26 April, 2016, New Delhi: Snapdeal has strengthen its marketing team as the company has roped in former HUL Brand Director, Kanika Kalra as its Vice President- Marketing. Kalra has a vast experience of 12 years and she has been associated with big brands such as Hindustan Unilever Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Ltd and Pepsico.
The company said in a statement, “She will focus on making the business more customer-centric and ensuring creativity and impact in all communication.” Rohit Bansal, Co-Founder, Snapdeal, elaborated on the appointment, “She comes with a vast and distinguished experience in brand marketing. As we look at defining more innovative solutions for our customers, I am sure she will add tremendous value and further fuel our growth.”
Snapdeal is India’s one of the biggest online marketplaces. Ventured into the market in 2010, company is a brain child of Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal. Snapdeal is backed up by SoftBank Corp, Ru-Net Holdings, Tybourne Capital, PremjiInvest, Temasek Holdings, Bessemer Venture Partners, IndoUS Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Saama Capital, Nexus Ventures, Intel Capital, and Ratan Tata.
Since its inception, it has acquired a total funding of US $1.54 billion in 10 rounds from 19 investors. Apart from raising funds, it has made around 10 acquisitions in companies such as Reduce Data, FreeCharge, Grabbon.com, eSportsBuy.com etc. Snapdeal offers an assortment of 10 million products across diverse categories from over 100,000 sellers.
