13 December, 2015, Gurgaon: Indian mobile manufacturing company, Micromax has decided to spread its wings and increase its manufacturing units in the country. According to the sources, the company has planned to install new manufacturing units in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana. With the investment of Rs 300 crore, company’s new units will start their operations by the next year.
As per the officials of Micromax, the company has been allotted 20 acres land in Telangana and 25 acres in Rajasthan. However, location of Andhra Pradesh is yet to be finalised. Meanwhile, construction at Telangana and Rajsthan will start soon and once these plants start their operations, company is expecting to increase its capacity to four million units.
Presently, Micromax operates from an assembly unit at Rudrapur that manufactures around one million units and rest of the units are imported from China. The company has started it operations at Rudrapur unit in April 2014. Apart from mobile, it also manufactures tablets at this unit. However, the company has shown interest in manufacturing batteries and other components and if all goes by the plan, Micromax is expecting to achieve its goal by the end of 2017.
