Intel, Dept of Sc & Tech partner for Digital India innovation

New Delhi, April 24 : Chip giant Intel has partnered the Department of Science and Technology (DS&T) to develop solutions for driving the technology adoption in the country.

It has also roped in IIM Ahmedabad’s Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) as the execution partner for the programme.

“The ‘Innovate for Digital India Challenge’ focusses on creating products to make technology simpler and increasing adoption in India. It will be open to entrepreneurs, innovators, academia, designers, engineers and students,” Intel Vice President (Sales and Marketing Group) and Managing Director South Asia Debjani Ghosh said.

Participants will be mentored by industry leaders and Intel experts and they will also be given assistance in terms of technical know-how, access to product kits and how to take these solutions to the market, she added.

“They will also be offered market linkages and access to funds at various stages to help make their ideas a reality. Total grants worth Rs 1.5 crore will be given,” she said.

Intel and CIIE will work closely with MyGov for programme facilitation and popularising through application management and social media support.

“The challenge will encourage the application of the principles of frugal innovation and a strong understanding of Indian lifestyles,” Ghosh said.

It will focus on innovation in areas like using biometric sensing capabilities, gesture recognition, multilingual support and voice support, she added.
