Google has rolled out (worldwide) ‘Explore’ and ‘For You’ features for Google Maps.

The redesigned Explore tab gives quick recommendations for restaurants, bars, and cafes in any area user is interested in.
When user check out a particular area on the map, user will see dining, event, and activity options based on the area user is looking at. Top trending lists like the Foodie List show user where the tastemakers are going, and help user find new restaurants based on information from local experts, Google’s algorithms, and trusted publishers like The Infatuation and others.
Tapping on any food or drink venue will display user’s “match”—a number that suggests how likely user is to enjoy a place and reasons explaining why. Google use machine learning to generate this number, based on a few factors: what Google know about a business, the food and drink preferences user has selected in Google Maps, places user has been to, and whether user has rated a restaurant or added it to a list. User’s matches change as user’s own tastes and preferences evolve over time—it’s like user’s own expert sidekick, helping user quickly assess user’s options and confidently make a decision.
When user need to corral a group for a meal or activity, there’s a new feature that makes it easier to coordinate. User need to long press on the places user is interested in to add it to a shareable shortlist that user’s friends and family can add more places to and vote on. Once all people have made a decision together,user can use Google Maps to book a reservation and find a ride.
For You tab
User can choose to follow neighborhoods and dining spots user want to try so user will always have an idea for the next outing. For example following a neighborhood allows user to instantly see if there’s a hot new restaurant in the area, a new cafe that’s a perfect match for user’s tastes.
