In a recent tweet following the report’s release, Elon Musk claimed that “ketamine taken occasionally is better than traditional medication for depression.”According to The Wall Street Journal, the billionaire has utilized small doses of ketamine for treating depression and occasionally consumed total doses during recreational activities. Musk cited examples of friends who have found success with intermittent ketamine usage to alleviate depressive symptoms.

According to the aforementioned report, individuals who have personally witnessed or were informed by Elon Musk have attested to the Tesla CEO’s practice of micro-dosing. Ketamine, primarily recognized as an anesthetic, possesses hallucinogenic properties and can effectively alleviate anxiety. It is commonly available as a white powder, liquid solution, or pill.

It is worth noting that Elon Musk frequently employs drug-related humor and often makes references to the number 420, which is associated with marijuana. In 2022, the CEO of Twitter shared that he and the entire SpaceX team underwent drug testing for a year following his well-known appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast in 2018, during which he famously smoked marijuana.

Depression is overdiagnosed in the US, but for some people it really is a brain chemistry issue.

But zombifying people with SSRIs for sure happens way too much. From what I’ve seen with friends, ketamine taken occasionally is a better option.

Interestingly, Musk is not the sole tech billionaire mentioned in the report who engages in the recreational use of psychedelics. Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google, reportedly partakes in consuming “magic mushrooms,” which contain psilocybin—a chemical known to induce hallucinations. These mushrooms are only legally accessible in Colorado and Oregon but have demonstrated promising therapeutic potential for mental health issues during clinical trials.

Elon Musk’s Views on Psychedelics and Mental Health

Elon Musk currently holds the world’s wealthiest individual title, with a staggering fortune estimated at $230 billion. On the other hand, Sergey Brin ranks as the 11th-richest person globally, boasting a net worth of $96 billion.

Furthermore, the report reveals that Founders Fund, a renowned venture capital firm based in San Francisco, has organized exclusive psychedelic gatherings for Silicon Valley executives. This firm, co-founded by Peter Thiel and famous for its investments in groundbreaking companies such as SpaceX, Airbnb, and Spotify, allegedly hosts these events to enhance participants’ creativity and focus through psychedelics.

Musk tweeted in the early hours of Tuesday morning, “Depression is overdiagnosed in the US, but for some people, it really is a brain chemistry issue. But zombifying people with SSRIs for sure happens way too much. From what I’ve seen with friends, ketamine taken occasionally is a better option.” SSRIs are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, the most common drug prescribed for mental illness.

Additionally, the report delves into the broader context of the use of psychedelics among influential figures in Silicon Valley. It highlights a growing trend of tech entrepreneurs and executives exploring the potential benefits of these substances for personal growth and cognitive enhancement.

Elon Musk and the Shifting Mindset in Silicon Valley Towards Psychedelics

Psychedelic parties organized by Founders Fund have become somewhat of a phenomenon within the Silicon Valley community. These exclusive gatherings provide an environment where like-minded individuals can experiment with psychedelics in a controlled and supportive setting. The aim is not only to facilitate a recreational experience but also to tap into the potential of these substances to boost creativity, problem-solving abilities, and overall mental well-being.

The popularity of such events suggests a shifting mindset within the tech industry, with a growing number of individuals embracing alternative approaches to optimizing their mental states and exploring uncharted territories of consciousness. The belief is that psychedelics can unlock new perspectives, spark innovative thinking, and foster a deeper understanding of the self and the world.

It is important to note that the use of psychedelics is still a highly controversial topic, with legal and ethical implications surrounding their recreational and therapeutic use. While some view them as tools for personal growth and exploration, others express concerns about potential risks, abuse, and the lack of long-term research on their effects.

As the conversation around psychedelics evolves, it raises crucial questions about the intersection of mental health, creativity, and innovation in the tech industry. The experiences and practices of influential figures like Elon Musk and Sergey Brin contribute to a broader dialogue about the potential benefits, risks, and responsible use of these substances in society.
