Gran Turismo 7 has included the Suzuki Jimny in its lineup of playable vehicles as part of a new update that went live this week, in response to innumerable online requests. Apart from the previously mentioned “baby G-Class,” the game has been enhanced with two new Extra Cafe menus, two Vision concept vehicles, and many new race events, in addition to the standard bug corrections and improvements.
Though we’ll still have to wait until the update comes at about 0600 UTC on Thursday to find out the other information, the announcement confirms the identities of the three cars that were teased over the weekend and disclosed most of the remainder of the update. For the time being, though, we are able to reveal the new events, cars, and other features of the update. It starts with one of the most surprising vehicles we have yet to see in the game.
Suzuki Jimny on Demand
That is the fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny, a tiny off-road vehicle that fits under the Kei car classification. That is the car that will be included in the game; it is a boxy, one-ton Jimny that has been stripped of its body add-ons to fit inside the Kei class dimensions. It has a 660cc turbocharged engine that produces 63 horsepower.
But since its unveiling at the Gran Turismo World Finals in Barcelona in December 2023, we have been anticipating the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo. This hybrid hyper-GT has 17 times the power of the Jimny, and it goes without saying that a number of players will receive the vehicle as part of the Viewers’ Gift Campaign that took place in December.
A little snag exists with the Bulgari vehicle, for the time being at least: normal players won’t be able to purchase it until an undisclosed time somewhere in late February. To be eligible for early access to the automobile, you must be the fortunate owner of a Bulgari Aluminum Gran Turismo Limited Model chronograph watch and register using the QR code that comes with the watch.
The Jimny Cup, a brand-new race series in the game, goes along with the Jimny. There will be three races held at Willow Springs, the Lake Louise snow track, and the Sardegna Windmills dirt track. The Jimny can also make quite a few adjustments, based on the race’s preview pictures.
Other concepts seem powerful
Though far more conventional, the alternative idea is just as powerful. The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Vision Gran Turismo Concept, which was unveiled at the same occasion as Bulgari’s work, is far more intriguing since, while it has been radically altered, there is a slim likelihood that it will ever go into production. A few Genesis trademarks and associated stories have indicated that the Korean manufacturer is eager to release a sports vehicle on the market, even though the supercar’s technology and appearance are a little unrealistic. Perhaps the manufacturer will make it drivable in the real world if enough people are impressed by the Genesis Speedium stylistic cues in the game. Cross your fingers
