Ford has unveiled a refreshed version of its popular compact pickup, the Maverick, for the 2025 model year. The update brings a surprising new look, expanded capabilities for the hybrid model, and a host of technological enhancements.

The most striking change is the Maverick’s new face. Gone is the familiar, truck-like front end, replaced by a design that some might describe as polarizing. The new headlights are L-shaped and slim, while the grille, depending on the trim, features a complex pattern or a simpler, more rugged look. The overall effect is a departure from the Maverick’s original, more conventional styling.

Interior Upgrades, AWD Hybrid Powertrain, and Increased Towing Capacity in the 2025 Ford Maverick

While the exterior changes might divide opinions, there’s no doubt that the interior has received a welcome upgrade. All Maverick models now come standard with a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, bringing it in line with the latest Ford models. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard features.

Perhaps the most significant news for Maverick enthusiasts is the availability of all-wheel drive for the hybrid powertrain. This highly anticipated option was a top request from Maverick owners, and Ford has delivered. The addition of AWD expands the Maverick’s versatility, making it a more capable choice for those who frequently encounter challenging road conditions.

To complement the new AWD system, the hybrid Maverick can now be equipped with a tow package, boosting its towing capacity to a respectable 4,000 pounds. This matches the towing capacity of the turbocharged gasoline engine, making the hybrid a more compelling option for those who need to haul heavier loads.

New Hybrid All-Wheel Drive Options and Tremor Trim for 2025 Ford Maverick

The big news is that all-wheel drive is now an option for the hybrid versions on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels. Ford claims that owners’ requests for it were the most common. Hybrid Mavericks now have the option of adding all-wheel drive in addition to the optional Tow package, which matches the turbocharged four-cylinder’s 4000-pound tow capability. The basic 2.5-liter hybrid four-cylinder engine produces 191 horsepower, while the optional 2.0-liter turbo four engine produces 238 horsepower. These are the only available powertrain options for the truck.

The Maverick lineup also sees the introduction of the Tremor package as a standalone trim. Previously available only on the XLT and Lariat, the Tremor now offers its off-road-focused features as a distinct choice for buyers seeking enhanced capability.

The 2025 Ford Maverick is scheduled to go on sale later this year. Pricing has not yet been announced, but it’s expected to be only slightly higher than the current model. With its bold new look, expanded capabilities, and improved technology, the Maverick continues to offer a compelling package for buyers in the compact pickup segment.
