Samsung could turn things around in the smartphone market. If rumors are to be believed, then the tech giant from South Korea is likely to release the first ever three-fold smartphone next year. Which is why, this new foldable device would actually fold, not once, but twice, thus providing users with an even greater display than it has been made available in other foldable models that has come to our observations.
Huawei already signaled that it will be the year it ramps up the foldable stakes, just joined by Xiaomi and Honor. Huawei has recently released the Mate XT Ultimate Edition that is, reportedly, the world’s first tri-fold phone in China. Now, Samsung is ready to aim and maintain its position well in this competitive and dynamic foldable industry.
New Foldables Are on the Horizon
Samsung may be very keen to triple the fun, but they are not the only ones doing it. It must be pointed out that Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor are also said to be developing their tri-fold smartphones. As a result, with so many tech giants pushing for a bigger and newer screen their competition begins. As for Samsung, which boasted one of the leading innovative jots, it has all the attributes for a swift tri-fold technology release and its supply chain prepared.
Further, rumors say that Samsung will also come with another new foldable phone design, a clam shell folding phone. These new devices are expected to be available in stores and the market approximately in mid this year 2025. Many new devices include the folding one.
But Why Now?
However, the current foldable models, that is the Galaxy Z Fold6, and the Galaxy Z Flip6, have received less attraction despite the new foldable technology. It has declined by over 10%. Based on what we’ve just seen, it seems Samsung wants a brand new source of innovation by getting into the tri-fold category. If customers weren’t impressed with folding phones, then surely they will be with devices that fold in half at least…
It Is Not Samsung ’s First Tri-Fold Concept
It is not the first time Samsung tries to get into the tri-fold sector either. The company has earlier shown the world Flex G & Flex S prototypes also. These designs provided various folding patterns like what Huawei and Tecno have done. While those earlier models were mockups, Samsung appears to be quite serious about a tri-fold wafer phone this time around.
No Budget Foldables for Now
While releasing a cheaper variant was expected along with the new release, Samsung has categorically denied the rumors. It seems, then, that for the time being, those who’re pinning their hopes on a comparatively affordable Galaxy Z Fold will just have to wait. Samsung still sticks to crease, only offering magnificent foldables, invaluable experiences and screens that are almost as big as tablets.
The Foldable Market Today & What Comes Next
Samsung is not alone in this endeavor, given that other tech companies are also turning themselves to the foldable market. Google also entered the bucket only a few weeks ago with its Pixel 9 Pro Fold that costs a staggering ₹1.73 lakhs. As more and more brands continue to work on new styles of foldable, 2025 might just turn into the year of the tri-fold.
Before diving into the chances let me state that the foldable market is only beginning as Samsung is preparing to release its first tri-fold smartphone. If you are already prepared to make the leap for a device that folds as three like a pamphlet or you enjoy seeing technology progress then you will not be disappointed.
