Who isn’t fond of clicking pictures? Of people, of places, and of everything we love around us! But doesn’t it create a clutter inside our photo galleries? Well, the new feature of Google Photos will help you out here, by picking out your favorites throughout the year and presenting them before you in a wrap. Just follow the mentioned steps to get this yearly recap on Google Photos.

What is Google’s ‘Year-in-review’ Recap?

Google Photos has come up with the feature of “Moments” that just replaced “Memories“. This feature allows an accountholder to go through the pictures on his Google account systematically. With the help of the all-new “Moments” feature, the best pictures of the year are created into a presentation by Google itself. These are the best of the clicked images saved in your Google Photos that you would want to view to cheer yourself up anytime.

What can one expect in the “Moments” album?

Here, you can find pictures and videos from every month of the year, put together to make a beautiful presentation. Not only this, but you will also find an automatically generated soundtrack in every video presentation. Also, the selection of colors all the while reflects the dominant colors in your pictures too. Gets wild, doesn’t it?

Besides this, there are various new sub-features that call for our attention. First is the “2024 Vibes”, which gives you your top 3 personas, based on your pictures and your capturing history. Then we also have “Year in color“ which highlights the dominant color in your pictures and also makes it the palette color in the presentation to give a more personal touch to it. Then you can also see “Your Top Faces” giving you the pictures of people you have clicked the greatest number of photos with. And the last but the most heartwarming is “Year in Smiles” where you can see with who you smiled the most in your pictures.

Not only is it fun to watch, but quite nostalgic too. You can have a quick recap of every activity you did in the past year, all the friends you made, and all the fun you had. It is hard to keep track of everything simply in a gallery, as you yourself have to sort the important pictures into personalized albums.

Steps to view Google Yearly Photo Recap

You can simply –

  • You’ll get notified when your 2024 “Moments” are ready for you to see.
  • You can open Google Photos and look around for the option.
  • Once spotted, you can click on it to view.
  • While it is meant to last till December only, you can still revisit it under ‘December’ in the photo grid.

How does Google manage to do it?

Well, it is simple. Google makes use of the AI tools to go through your gallery and pick out your favorites and then puts them together to make a compilation that you’ll enjoy with a suitable soundtrack. This is the most unique feature of Google Photos that gives it an edge over any other application or simply, gallery for that matter.

Now that you’ve seen how you can view your “Moments” on Google Photos, go check out yours and dive back into time.
