Notepad’s Evolution: From Simple Text Editor to AI-Assisted Writing Tool
Notepad, a staple since Windows 1.0, has traditionally served as a basic text editor. However, Microsoft has introduced a new feature called “Write,” transforming Notepad into an AI-assisted writing tool. This feature allows users to generate text based on prompts, refine existing content, and adjust tone or length, all within the app.

Each AI-powered action consumes one credit. While the features are currently in testing phases, Microsoft plans to roll them out more broadly in future Windows 11 updates.
