If you’ve ever dreamed of cruising the open waters in style while chasing danger and loot in Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) — then yacht missions are your ticket. Yacht missions — officially known as A Superyacht Life — blend luxury, mayhem and big payouts. This guide walks you through how to get started with yacht missions, step by step, so you can jump in smoothly and make the most out of your superyacht.

What Are Yacht Missions?
A Superyacht Life is a set of six contact missions in GTA Online tied to owning a super-yacht. These missions were introduced to give players a reason to actually use their yacht — not just as a floating trophy, but as a launching pad for action. You can play alone or with up to three friends, making them flexible whether you’re flying solo or teaming up.
These missions take you on jobs such as retrieving stolen items, underwater salvage, firefighting, sabotage, high seas combat, submarine hijack — basically a bunch of over-the-top adventures that feel cinematic and full of chaos.
How to Unlock and Start Yacht Missions
- Own the Yacht
The very first requirement is owning a Galaxy Super Yacht. You purchase this via the in-game “DockTease” website. Depending on the model you pick, the price ranges roughly between six to ten million in-game dollars. Once the yacht is bought and spawned in the water, you unlock access to the entire yacht-missions package. - Meet the Captain (or Call Him)
Missions are given by your in-game yacht captain, Captain Brendan Darcy. After the yacht is ready, he appears in your in-game contacts list.- Option A — Go to the Yacht: Board your yacht, go up to the bridge (top deck), and you’ll see a yellow “B” marker. Walk into it to access the mission terminal. From there, you can launch any available yacht mission.
- Option B — Call the Captain: Open your phone in game, go to Contacts, select Captain Darcy, and choose “Request Job.” This triggers the next available mission — no need to be physically on the yacht.
The Six Yacht Missions
Once you’re set up, you’ll have access to six missions. They unlock in sequence, but after you complete all of them once, you can replay them freely. The six are:
- Overboard — Recover stolen jetskis and documents; chase enemies through canals and docks, destroy stolen boats, and evade police.
- Salvage — Dive underwater to retrieve cargo from a shipwreck and rescue your captain and crew from hijackers.
- All Hands — Steal a plane, use it to extinguish fires at a country club that’ve erupted, then deliver the plane back to the yacht.
- Icebreaker — Sabotage a rival gang’s warehouse, destroy AC units, steal contraband, and deliver it while avoiding pursuit.
- Bon Voyage — Defend your yacht during a violent storm while enemy boats and helicopters attack: three intense waves of attackers make this one chaotic.
- D-Day — A full-scale underwater/submarine infiltration and assault: navigate mines, hijack a rival yacht, eliminate enemy boss, and destroy escaping helicopter.
Solo or With Friends — Your Choice
All missions are designed to work solo or with up to three players. This makes yacht missions ideal whether you prefer playing alone or with a crew.
Why Do Yacht Missions? — Rewards & Perks
- Money & RP: Depending on weekly bonuses, yacht missions can be extremely lucrative. During “bonus weeks,” payouts get multiplied, making them one of the fastest ways to make money in GTA Online.
- Completing all six missions as host unlocks a special “Yacht Captain” outfit — a cosmetic that signals you’ve mastered the yacht missions.
- Once missions are completed, they become replayable through the pause-menu “Jobs → Rockstar Created → Missions” tab.
