Jeep has officially opened the configurator for its highly anticipated 2026 Recon electric SUV, giving buyers their first detailed look at pricing, customization options, and just how expensive the off-road-focused EV can become. While the base model starts at $68,990, checking nearly every available option pushes the price to just under $77,000 before destination charges.
Despite the premium sticker price, the Recon still undercuts rivals like the GMC Hummer EV by a significant margin, positioning itself as a more attainable electric off-roader for Jeep enthusiasts.
One Trim to Start, More Expected Later
For its launch year, the 2026 Jeep Recon will be available exclusively in the Trail Rated Moab trim. Jeep has not yet confirmed additional trims, although more variants are expected in future model years.
The company has kept the options list relatively simple, suggesting it expects the Recon to remain a niche product rather than a high-volume seller like the Wrangler or Grand Cherokee.
Exterior Customization Offers Plenty of Choice
Customers can choose from eight exterior paint colors, including Bright White, Hydro Blue, Red Hot, Ceramic Gray, Silver Zynith, Diamond Black Crystal, the military-inspired ’41 green, and the vibrant Joose orange.
While white, blue, and red are included at no extra cost, premium shades carry additional charges. The Joose orange paint commands the highest premium at $995, while adding a contrasting black roof costs another $995 regardless of the body color.
Wheel options remain straightforward. Standard 18-inch machine-face wheels come fitted with all-terrain tires, while buyers can opt for rugged-looking aluminum wheels for an additional $500.
Jeep also offers removable-door mirrors for $695, Mopar rock rails priced at $1,995, and paint protection film for $595 for owners planning to tackle challenging trails.
Comfort Meets Adventure Inside
Inside the Recon, buyers can choose between an all-black cabin or a Joshua Tree-inspired brown interior.
A $1,995 Comfort Package enhances daily usability with ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, an interior camera, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Another standout option is Jeep’s Sky One-Touch power roof, allowing occupants to enjoy open-air driving at the touch of a button for an additional $1,995.
Practical accessories such as all-weather floor mats and a cargo tray are also available through Mopar.
Towing Package Adds Capability
For customers planning to tow, Jeep offers a Trailer Tow Group that includes a Class III receiver hitch, four- and seven-pin wiring harnesses, trailer detection for the blind-spot monitoring system, and trailer hitch zoom through the rear-view camera.
However, the Recon’s EPA-estimated driving range of 222 miles may limit its appeal for long-distance towing or remote adventures where charging infrastructure remains sparse.
Premium Price, But Range Could Be a Challenge
A fully equipped Recon Moab with every available option and the exclusive Joose paint approaches the $77,000 mark before destination fees. While that still places it below the significantly more expensive GMC Hummer EV, the Recon enters an increasingly competitive electric SUV market.
The biggest hurdle may not be its price but its modest driving range. With newer electric SUVs offering well over 300 miles per charge and upcoming competitors such as the Rivian R2 promising lower prices, Jeep faces a challenging road ahead.
Still, the Recon brings something many electric SUVs cannot: genuine Jeep DNA. Its removable doors, open-air roof, Trail Rated capability, and rugged styling make it one of the few battery-powered SUVs designed with serious off-road enthusiasts in mind.
Whether that unique formula is enough to overcome range anxiety and intense competition will become clear once the 2026 Jeep Recon reaches dealerships later this year.
