How Dynamic Pricing Works and Why Businesses Use It

Ashneer Grover is back in the fintech spotlight with Fund My Staff, a new lending platform built around a simple idea: let employers back their staff’s loan requests. The product is aimed at workers who have little or no credit history, and it tries to make borrowing easier by using the employer’s guarantee instead of relying only on the borrower’s profile.

Employer-backed lending model:

Fund My Staff works on an employer-guarantee structure. In plain terms, the employee asks for a loan, the employer supports the request as guarantor, and the loan is then provided by a regulated lending partner rather than by the employer directly. The platform says this can help staff members who are otherwise stuck outside the formal credit system, especially those with low bureau history or irregular access to bank loans.

The company’s website describes a fairly direct flow: employers can add staff, set a loan amount, approve the request and act as guarantor, while employees can also initiate a request themselves. Once approved, the money is disbursed to the employee and repayment happens in EMIs or through a UPI mandate, depending on the setup. The platform also says the process is designed to be quick and transparent, with funds reaching the bank account in minutes after approval.

How the product is set up:

Fund My Staff is being rolled out under Third Unicorn, the venture formed by Grover and Aseem Ghavri after Grover’s exit from BharatPe. According to the reporting and the platform’s own material, it functions as a Lending Service Provider under RBI digital lending norms, while the actual loans are made by RBI-registered lending partners.

One listed lending partner is Ash Grove Capital Private Limited, an RBI-registered NBFC. The app listing also points to Aadhaar and PAN-based KYC, credit bureau checks and income verification through the Account Aggregator framework, which suggests the startup is trying to combine formal underwriting with a softer employer-trust layer. The target user is clear: salaried staff, domestic workers and other employees who may need small-ticket credit but do not have strong access to mainstream lending.

Why Grover is pitching it:

Grover has framed the product as a practical answer to a common problem: many employers want to help their staff financially, but they do not want to hand out cash directly or take on informal risk. Fund My Staff attempts to solve that gap by turning trust into a borrowing bridge. In his LinkedIn post, Grover summed it up in blunt language, saying the “ameer-garib” debate has gone on long enough and that the real issue is helping house staff without getting stuck at the question of who will guarantee the money.

The launch also fits into Grover’s broader second-act fintech push after BharatPe. Inc42 noted that the platform follows earlier efforts such as ZeroPe, while other startup coverage says this is Grover’s latest move in the digital lending space. The business bet is obvious: India’s credit market is still underserved at the small-ticket, low-formality end, and an employer-backed model could be easier to scale than a pure unsecured lending product.

Social buzz around the launch:

The launch quickly spread across startup and business circles, with reactions focusing on the unusual employer-guarantee model and whether it can work outside household-staff use cases. One widely shared post from Ashneer Grover on LinkedIn read, “Ameer – Garib debate bahut ho gayi… Aap bas apni guarantee do – paise hum denge!” along with a link to the app. Another report described Fund My Staff as a platform where “your boss can actually help you get a loan,” highlighting how sharply the product is positioned for workers with limited credit history.
