Audi has officially entered the ultra-luxury full-size SUV segment with the unveiling of the all-new 2027 Q9 and performance-focused SQ9. Designed to sit above the Q7, the new flagship models replace the A8 sedan as Audi’s premium standard-bearer, bringing together luxury, technology, and performance in a package aimed squarely at rivals like the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Range Rover.
Unlike many of Audi’s recent global launches, the Q9 has been developed with North American buyers as its primary focus, reflecting the growing demand for large premium SUVs in the region.

Audi says customer demand from the United States played a major role in shaping the Q9. The company expects North America to account for the majority of global production, highlighting the importance of the market for the brand’s largest SUV.
The Q9 measures over 209 inches in length, making it significantly larger than the Q7. Its longer wheelbase and taller stance promise more cabin space across all three rows while maintaining the refined proportions expected from a flagship Audi.
Rather than adopting aggressive styling, Audi has chosen clean body surfaces and understated lines to give the SUV a more elegant and commanding presence.
Lighting Technology Takes Center Stage
While the exterior design remains restrained, Audi has packed the Q9 with some of its most advanced lighting technology.
Matrix LED headlights are available for U.S. customers, intelligently adjusting individual LEDs to minimize glare for oncoming traffic without reducing overall visibility. At the rear, newly developed curved OLED taillights offer customizable lighting signatures and display a warning triangle when the hazard lights are activated.

With enhanced rear-biased all-wheel drive, an electronically controlled locking rear differential, and brake torque vectoring, the SQ9 completes the sprint to 60 mph in an impressive 3.8 seconds.
Every Q9 variant is capable of towing up to 7,700 pounds, making it one of Audi’s most versatile luxury vehicles.
Comfort Meets Cutting-Edge Technology
Inside, the Q9 emphasizes premium comfort with seating for up to seven passengers. Buyers can choose between a traditional second-row bench or luxurious captain’s chairs, while every seat features power adjustment.
The dashboard is dominated by Audi’s latest digital interface, including a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a standard 12.3-inch passenger display. Adaptive air suspension comes standard, allowing the Q9 to adjust its ride height by up to 3.5 inches and providing as much as 10 inches of ground clearance when needed.
Higher trims benefit from four-wheel steering for improved maneuverability, while multiple drive modes automatically optimize steering, suspension, throttle response, and torque distribution depending on road conditions.
The SQ9 further sharpens the driving experience with a sport-tuned suspension, larger staggered wheels, and a distinctive performance exhaust.

Audi will launch the Q9 in North America before introducing it to other global markets, underlining the SUV’s importance for U.S. buyers.
Pricing starts at $89,095 for the Q9, rises to $94,695 for the Premium Plus trim, and reaches $103,795 for the Prestige model. The high-performance SQ9 will be offered in a single well-equipped trim priced at $119,395.
