Borderlands 4 has received its second major Story Pack, FL4K and the Last Resort, giving players an adventure on the tropical island of Providence. If you have installed the expansion but cannot find its starting mission, the game does not explain the process very clearly. Fortunately, the entry point is easy to reach once you know what to look for.

What You Need Before Starting
Before searching for the mission, make sure FL4K and the Last Resort is installed and available on your account. You also need to complete the “A Lot to Process” mission in the Fadefields with the character you want to use.
The expansion is designed for Vault Hunters at level 13 or higher. If you are starting a fresh character, you can also create a new Vault Hunter that begins directly with the FL4K content at level 13.
The Story Pack is included with certain Borderlands 4 editions and can also be purchased separately. The base game is required.
Find The Bones of Sanctuary
Once you meet the requirements, open your map and travel to Terminus Range. Your destination is the Bones of Sanctuary fast travel point in the eastern part of the region.
After arriving, look around the snowy camp near the Sanctuary III area. You are searching for a distress beacon or small terminal that has been added for the Story Pack.
The new mission should appear as “FL4K and the Last Resort.” Interact with the beacon to hear FL4K’s message and accept the mission. You can choose to track it immediately, which makes the next objective much easier to follow.
If you cannot see the mission, check that the DLC is installed and that “A Lot to Process” has been completed on your current character.
Travel to Providence Island
After accepting the mission, return to Sanctuary III. You will find a door that serves as the route to Providence Island. Interact with it to begin the trip and trigger the opening sequence for the expansion.
The journey eventually places you inside an escape pod. When the game gives you control, follow the objective to exit the pod. You will then arrive in the Vinechoked Canopy, marking the beginning of your adventure on Providence.
From this point onward, the expansion’s missions will guide you through the island and introduce its new story, enemies, activities, and rewards.
What FL4K and the Last Resort Adds
The expansion focuses on FL4K, the Beastmaster, and their loyal skag companion, Mr. Chew. Tediore has launched an invasion of Providence while searching for the valuable Ordonite resource, turning the island’s luxury resort into a battlefield.
Players will fight Tediore soldiers and powerful exoskeleton-equipped enemies while exploring the island’s jungle and resort areas. Providence also introduces ziplines that let you move through the treetops and gain new angles during combat.
The Story Pack includes eight story bosses and 13 additional minibosses. There are also new Legendary and Pearlescent weapons, Legendary Class Mods, cosmetics, vehicle items, and ECHO-4 customization options to collect.
How Long Is The DLC?
The main story of FL4K and the Last Resort takes roughly four hours for players who focus primarily on the campaign. Exploring the additional content, hunting bosses, completing side missions, and collecting new gear can extend the experience to around eight to ten hours.
That makes the expansion a fairly compact adventure, but there is plenty to do if you enjoy Borderlands 4’s endgame-style activities and loot hunting.
Why You Cannot Find The Mission
If the starting mission is missing, work through this checklist:
- Confirm that FL4K and the Last Resort is installed.
- Complete “A Lot to Process” in the Fadefields.
- Use the character that completed the required mission.
- Travel to Bones of Sanctuary in Terminus Range.
- Look for the distress beacon and accept “FL4K and the Last Resort.”
- Enter Sanctuary III and use the Providence Island door.
