World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard Entertainment’s new version of its classic MMORPG experience. The test begins now on September 17, 2026, before the full release on November 4.
There are two main ways to get access: opt in for free and wait for an invitation, or purchase an eligible edition that includes guaranteed beta access.
When Does The WoW Forever Beta Start?
The World of Warcraft: Forever beta starts on September 17, 2026, until October 21.
The beta is separate from the full game. Characters and progress made during testing will not carry over to launch. The test is designed to find problems, check systems, and let players experience the game before release.
How To Get WoW Forever Beta Access For Free
The first option does not require buying a special edition. Blizzard has opened a beta opt-in for players who want to participate.
Follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Battle.net account connected to your World of Warcraft account.
- Open the World of Warcraft: Forever page on Blizzard’s website.
- Find the beta opt-in option.
- Select the option to request beta access.
- Keep checking Battle.net and the email connected to your account.
Free opt-in does not guarantee immediate access. Blizzard can select players in waves during the testing period. Signing up early is useful, but it does not mean you will automatically receive an invitation.
How To Get Guaranteed Beta Access
If you do not want to rely on an invitation, Blizzard has included beta access with specific paid editions.
The Skyborne Epic Pack includes guaranteed access to the World of Warcraft: Forever beta. The Warcraft Forever Collection also includes it. The cheaper Skyborne Heroic Pack does not provide beta access.
When purchasing an eligible pack, use the Battle.net account where you want to play. Buying it on another account can cause problems.
How To Launch The Beta
Once your account has beta access, open the Battle.net launcher and select World of Warcraft.
Look at the game-version menu near the launcher’s Play or Install section. If access has been granted, World of Warcraft: Forever should appear as a selectable version. You may need to install the beta client.
If you opted in for free and do not see the beta immediately, your account may simply not have been selected yet.
What Can You Expect From The Beta?
World of Warcraft: Forever is designed as a fresh take on the early World of Warcraft experience rather than a simple recreation. It adds new areas, quests, class options, and systems while keeping the main game’s level cap at 60.
The beta has a lower testing cap, beginning with limited progression before reaching level 30. Blizzard can change content during testing.

Do You Need A World Of Warcraft Subscription?
World of Warcraft: Forever will be included with a regular World of Warcraft subscription or game time when it launches. You do not need to buy the full game separately.
Beta access is different. Having a normal World of Warcraft subscription does not guarantee entry. You need to opt in and be selected, or obtain access through an eligible edition.
Avoid Fake Beta Keys
Be careful if someone offers a World of Warcraft: Forever beta key through an unofficial website, marketplace, Discord server, or private message. Never give another person your Battle.net password, authentication code, or account information for beta access.
Use Blizzard’s official beta opt-in or an eligible purchase instead. This keeps access tied to the correct account.
