How to Build the Tanner’s Kit
The Tanner’s Kit is the key step because it upgrades the Tannery and gives it the extra crafting capacity needed for Hard Leather. To make one, gather:
- 6 Bronze Bars
- 8 Coarse Thread
- 6 Adhesive
- 18 Ash Planks
These materials require several crafting stations, so do not worry if the process feels like a lot at first.
Bronze Bars are made from Copper Ore and Tin Ore in a Furnace. Coarse Thread comes from processing Flax at a Spinning Wheel. Adhesive comes from Swamp Tar processed in a Kiln, while Ash Planks are produced from Ash Logs using a Sawmill.
The Furnace itself requires Vault Shards, meaning you will need to explore Vaults before you can progress through this part of the crafting chain.
How to Craft Hard Leather
Once the Tanner’s Kit is ready, place it close to your Tannery. Make sure you have reached Artisan level 40, then interact with the Tannery.
Add two Leather and one Adhesive to the Hard Leather recipe. Start the crafting process, and the station will produce one Hard Leather.

Alternative Ways to Get Hard Leather

Zogres can provide Hard Leather as combat loot, while Abyssal Demons can also drop the material. There are also Hard Leather Scraps, which can be combined into Hard Leather at the appropriate Tannery setup.
