AI startup Instinct has raised $1 billion in its latest funding round, quadrupling its valuation to $10 billion as investors continue to pour money into companies developing autonomous AI agents.

The funding round included Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue, giving Instinct a sharp jump from its previous valuation of $2.5 billion. The latest deal highlights the growing investor interest in AI systems that can do more than generate text or answer questions and can instead carry out tasks independently.

Instinct’s Valuation Jumps To $10 Billion

Instinct’s latest funding represents a significant increase from the $250 million it reportedly raised at a $2.5 billion valuation earlier this year.

The startup was founded in 2025 by Noah Shinn, who previously worked at Sierra, an AI customer service company run by Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor.

Instinct is developing what it describes as a personal AI agent capable of handling everyday tasks on behalf of users. Rather than simply providing information or recommendations, the system is designed to take action based on instructions.

Users can communicate with Instinct through text or phone calls and ask it to perform tasks such as planning trips, buying groceries, booking tickets and cancelling subscriptions.

The company said the new funding will help expand access to Instinct while allowing it to continue developing its personal AI platform.

Agentic AI Becomes A Major Investment Theme

Instinct’s massive funding round comes as venture capital investors increasingly focus on agentic AI.

Unlike conventional AI assistants that primarily respond to prompts, AI agents are designed to complete multi-step tasks with greater levels of autonomy. The technology could eventually allow AI systems to manage entire workflows that currently require human employees or multiple software applications.

That possibility has attracted significant attention from investors looking for the next major stage of AI development.

Instinct is targeting the consumer side of this market, positioning its technology as a personal assistant that can interact with businesses and complete real-world tasks.

The company’s latest expansion illustrates that strategy. Instinct has introduced a concierge offering that can call businesses on behalf of users to make bookings, extending the platform’s capabilities beyond purely digital activities.

AI Agents Move Into Commerce

The rise of agentic commerce is changing how companies are thinking about the role of AI in online transactions.

Consumers have traditionally used AI platforms to search for products, compare options or obtain recommendations before completing purchases themselves. Agentic systems aim to take the next step by allowing AI to carry out parts of the transaction.

For Instinct, that could mean an agent handling everything from finding an appropriate service to communicating with a business and completing a booking.

The approach could make AI assistants significantly more useful in everyday situations, although it also increases the importance of reliability and security. An AI system that can take actions on a user’s behalf needs to accurately understand instructions and avoid making costly mistakes.

Instinct Focuses On AI Safety And Privacy

As its agents become capable of performing more tasks independently, Instinct is also focusing on privacy and reliability.

The company said its privacy protections include isolated sandboxes and short-lived local credentials, which are designed to limit the potential exposure of sensitive information when agents perform tasks.

Instinct is also developing an active detection system intended to identify subtle and nuanced hallucinations in agent responses.

The issue is particularly important for autonomous AI systems. A mistaken answer from a traditional chatbot can often be corrected by the user, while an incorrect action taken by an autonomous agent could potentially result in a booking, purchase or cancellation that the user did not intend.

Instinct’s $10 Billion Valuation Reflects Agentic AI Momentum

The $1 billion funding round gives Instinct substantial capital as it attempts to establish itself in the emerging personal AI agent market.

Its rapid valuation growth also reflects the broader enthusiasm surrounding agentic AI, with investors betting that autonomous systems could eventually become a new interface for managing digital services and everyday commerce.

Instinct’s challenge will be turning that investor interest into a reliable consumer product capable of handling increasingly complex tasks. With its latest funding, the company now has considerably more resources to pursue that goal as competition across the agentic AI market continues to grow.
