AI voice startup ElevenLabs has reached a new valuation of $22 billion, marking a dramatic increase in its worth just months after its previous funding round. The company has also launched a $300 million tender offer that allows employees to sell a portion of their vested shares to investors.

The development highlights how rapidly investor interest in artificial intelligence startups is growing, particularly in areas such as voice agents and generative audio. It also reflects a broader trend in the AI industry, where companies are increasingly giving employees opportunities to turn part of their private-company equity into cash.

ElevenLabs Allows Employees to Cash Out Shares

The $300 million employee tender offer was co-led by Wellington and T. Rowe Price, two major institutional investors. The deal gives existing employees an opportunity to sell some of their vested equity while allowing investors to acquire shares in one of the fastest-growing AI companies.

For employees, such transactions can provide financial liquidity without requiring the company to go public. For startups, meanwhile, offering employees a chance to cash out can help retain valuable talent at a time when competition for experienced AI researchers, engineers and product specialists remains intense.

ElevenLabs’ latest valuation is particularly notable because it has doubled from the $11 billion valuation the company achieved after raising $500 million in February.

The jump also demonstrates how quickly private AI companies are being repriced by investors when their technology and commercial adoption show strong momentum.

ElevenLabs Is Scaling Its AI Voice Technology

Founded in 2022, ElevenLabs has established itself as a major player in AI-generated voice technology. Its platforms can generate highly realistic voices and sound effects, allowing companies to create spoken content without relying entirely on traditional voice recording.

The company says its technology now powers more than 15 million conversations every week across different platforms. That figure is three times higher than the level recorded in February, pointing to a sharp increase in usage within just a few months.

The growth is not limited to entertainment or content creation. ElevenLabs is increasingly positioning its technology as an enterprise tool, with businesses using AI voice systems for customer interactions, support services and other applications.

The company’s expansion into voice agents could prove particularly important as businesses look beyond text-based AI assistants.

AI Voice Agents Can Operate in More Than 90 Languages

One of ElevenLabs’ key areas of development is AI voice agents that can listen, speak and translate across more than 90 languages. Collectively, these languages are spoken by more than 5.5 billion people.

This gives the company an opportunity to target businesses and public-sector organizations operating across multiple markets, where language has traditionally been a major barrier to automated customer services.

ElevenLabs says its models are already being used by enterprises and governments to provide services to consumers and citizens.

“We’re already seeing rapid adoption of expressive voice agents by enterprises and governments,” said Mati Staniszewski, co-founder and CEO of ElevenLabs.

The company’s latest valuation suggests investors are placing significant expectations on that growth.

Employee Liquidity Is Becoming an AI Startup Strategy

ElevenLabs’ tender offer also fits into a wider pattern across the AI startup ecosystem. As private companies reach increasingly high valuations, employee share sales are becoming an important way for startups to reward and retain workers before an eventual IPO or acquisition.

For employees, the opportunity can be especially valuable because startup equity can otherwise remain locked up for years.

For companies, these transactions can strengthen retention without requiring a traditional public-market listing.

ElevenLabs’ latest deal therefore represents more than another increase in valuation. It shows how investors are increasingly willing to place large bets on AI companies with rapidly expanding usage, while startups are finding new ways to keep their employees financially invested in that growth.
