Before buying the first car or any new car, we spend hours searching online for the latest model with maximum features. But when it comes to purchasing car insurance, we spend the least time possible in deciding the right cover, thus undermining its importance. Some people also consider purchasing a plan that has the least premium. Although it is good to aim at lowering your car insurance premium, it should not compromise with comprehensive coverage that insurance can provide.

A comprehensive car insurance policy provides coverage against many contingencies that can arise on the road. It also provides financial assistance during times of crisis to you and the co-passengers.

Here are some of the benefits a comprehensive car insurance policy offers:

  • Protection against theft and vandalism
  • Protection against natural disasters
  • Coverage for damages occurred due to road accidents
  • Coverage to driver-owner and passengers
  • Protection against third-party damage
  • Coverage for accessory damage
  • Medical assistance during times of crisis
  • Roadside assistance

Since there are so many benefits comprehensive car insurance provides, you should not hurry while buying it.

Here are a few do’s and don’ts which help you get the best possible car insurance policy:

Do’s

  1. Compare Quotes

The first step towards buying an insurance policy is to compare quotes from different insurance companies. While choosing the one fitting your budget, you should also look into the benefits the company offers. Compare different quotes and select a reliable company that provides enhanced coverage options at lower premiums.

  1. Read Policy Brochure

While filling the car insurance form, you should read the policy brochure to know all about its benefits. The policy brochure contains all the information about the car insurance policy you are buying. Failing to read it thoroughly may make you miss out on a lot of crucial things.

  1. Add Rider Options

Rider options like zero depreciation cover, roadside assistance, and personal accident cover, help enhance basic car insurance coverage. Each of these provisions are designed for different purposes. When you opt for them, make sure to correlate their benefits with your needs.

  1. Buy and Renew Policy Online

Many companies offer extra benefits to their customers who buy and renew car insurance policy online. Apart from that, buying it online also saves you from the hassles of paperwork while making safe transactions.

Don’ts

  1. Make Hasty Decisions

Making hasty decisions while buying a car insurance policy may make you choose a wrong policy with the least coverage. Not doing the required research or buying the policy hastily on someone else’s advice can cost you a lot in future. Furthermore, you would also face problems while making policy claims.

  1. Let Someone Else Fill Your Form

While filing a car insurance form, you have to add details about yourself. Letting someone else fill your form can only create confusion, which can lead to a wide range of errors in the policy document. Ultimately, this will have its effect on the claim settlement process whenever you file a claim. In some cases, wrong information can also lead to termination of the policy.

  1. Avoid Terms and Conditions

Term and conditions describe the entire policy procedure and benefits. It also contains information during which you can make claims for a specific amount or under which conditions you can reap various benefits. Avoiding reading terms and conditions only cause misunderstanding while filing claims.

Keeping in mind the do’s and don’ts related to car insurance purchase is essential to make an informed decision. Alongside, you must choose a reliable insurance company like Tata AIG to get comprehensive coverage at competitive rates. The company has gained a large customer base because of its reliable customer support and policy benefits. If you feel you lack enough knowledge about car insurance, read why buying four wheeler insurance policy is a must for all car owners.

If you have bought a new car or you have been owning a car for a very long time, you would know that one of the most important document to have with you is the insurance. While you were getting the new car, the car retail company would have walked you through the process of buying a policy.

Third-party insurance would be the most common type of insurance policy that most car owners would opt for. There are many reasons behind getting Third-party insurance, ranging from being mandated as per the law to clearing legal liabilities. Let’s take a look at the reasons why you should buy third-party insurance.

1. Third-party insurance is mandated by the law- Third party car insurance is a mandatory document that you need to carry while you are driving your car in India. This is mandated as per the Motor Vehicles Act. It is illegal to drive in India if you don’t have the Third Party Insurance.

2. To avoid fines slapped by police- If you don’t have Third-Party insurance and if you are caught driving without one, then you will be liable to pay a fine of Rs.2000/-. If you are caught a second time then the fine will be Rs.4000/-. Repeated offences can land you in jail as well.

3. Financial assistance when you cause injury or death to a third-party- If you get into an accident with another person and you cause injury or even death to the third-party then a third-party insurance policy will pay for those liabilities on your behalf. In case of death then the compensation will be paid to the nearest kin. You will be protected and their dependents will also be covered.

4. Financial assistance when you damage a third-party’s property – While driving your car, if you get into an accident and damage another person’s vehicle or property then the third-party insurance policy will pay for those liabilities on your behalf.

5. Cheapest policy available- Third-party insurance policy is the cheapest policy available. The premium to be paid for this policy is the lowest when compared to other types of insurance policies available in the market.

6. Covers legal liabilities in case of an accident- If you are involved in an accident that has caused injuries or other damages to a third-party then whatever legal obligations involved will be taken care of by the insurance company. This way you will not have to depend on another person for the legal proceedings.

7. A safety net for unforeseen circumstances – Third-party insurance is a good safety net that you can afford in case if you are met with an accident. Without this policy, you will have to pay for the financial liabilities from your own pocket. This will create a huge dent in your savings.

8. Ease of purchase – You can easily purchase third-party insurance. There are fewer paperwork and documents to be provided for purchasing this policy. If you are purchasing the policy online, it will barely take a few minutes.

9. Available for purchase round the clock – You can easily buy third-party insurance whenever you want. It is available 24×7 all year round, unlike other policies which some insurance companies will only let you buy through offline methods.

10. Gives peace of mind – Third-party insurance policy will give you peace of mind when it comes to dealing with an accident. If you are met with an accident, you can completely focus on your mental health and you need to have to worry about the legal and financial liabilities that you owe to a third-party.

It goes without saying that in the coming years, cars are going to allow their “drivers” to have complete freedom from the actual necessity to drive. In other words, cars will navigate without human input. This emerging technology will surely create a powerful impact on environment, society, national security, and economy, and, as a result, will redefine transportation, cities, and countless tangential industries. Here are a few more interesting facts about driver-less cars you need to know.

5 Interesting Facts about Self-Driving Cars

  1. No steering wheels and pedals

If a car does not need a driver, then it won’t need a steering wheel. The majority of people continue to be surprised by this fact. Moreover, self-driving cars will do without pedals as well. The reason for this is the same – they won’t need them. Instead, due to extra space, manufacturers will be able to include more useful features. For today, a typical self-driving car is equipped with start and stop buttons, storage space for the passenger’s belongings, two seats with seatbelts, and a screen that displays the route to be taken.

  1. Not just for cars

Innovative GPS and sensor technology is going to be applied not just to cars, but to other vehicles as well. These include tractors, cargo trucks, mining trucks, etc. Some leading shipping companies are already using this technology to transport goods of any kind. The only challenge to these innovations is that there will always be companies that stick to their traditional methods and refuse to move with the times.

  1. GPS and satellite navigation systems

It is not a secret that all self-driving cars depend on GPS and satellite navigation systems that enable them to follow the set route. Furthermore, they are equipped with special cameras, lasers, and radar sensors to guarantee your safety and prevent unfortunate accidents and other hazards. Driver-less vehicles are able to distinguish between a car, a pedestrian, a motorcyclist, a tree, a pavement, and traffic lights, as well as road markings and a roadway construction. They are also capable of viewing distances of up to 500 feet.

  1. Prevention of accidents

There are different factors that lead to accidents on the road. These may include distractions due to other vehicles, weather conditions, physical limitations like bad reaction and eyesight, etc. Due to the fact that the vast majority of accidents are caused by the driver’s error, technology developers and car manufacturers do their best to make autonomous vehicles a lot safer than those driven by people. Self-driving cars have completed millions of miles of road tests, and they demonstrate the greatest potential to avoid common driver mistakes. Therefore, hopes are high that such innovation will begin to save lives lost in car accidents each year.

  1. Safety in complete darkness

It is a great achievement in the driver-less vehicle market to have a car able to function in total darkness. The main marketing goal is to achieve a considerable increase in safety that comes with a car able to drive by itself. If the car manufacturers confirm that, there will be no change in completing tasks regardless of the time of the day or amount of light.

We, humans, are extremely creative living beings who keep on introducing new technologies and devices. Without machines, we cannot even imagine a day. Despite the fact that machines will never take the place of the human brain, they still play a significant role – they make our lives a lot easier, more comfortable, and definitely more interesting.

Self-driving rental cars may prove to be incredibly beneficial if you’re in a country where you haven’t driven before, particularly if there are different road laws. There are positives and negatives to a self-driving vehicle, but if you’re somewhere that you don’t know, you’re likely to see positives. Rental cars can be questionable, whether they’re self-driving or not, because you don’t have much time to get to know the vehicle.

It may be easy to get hold of cheap car hire, but is it always a good idea to go with a self-driving vehicle over your standard car?

The original plan with self-driving cars was to focus on helping people with disabilities and improve road safety. However, it’s been picked up by a number of other road users who remain impressed with the technology. Waymo, one of the leading self-driving companies reports that there have been dozens of crashes, though none of them have caused any serious injury.

There are hazards that come with self-driving, and although Waymo hasn’t confirmed that any of their vehicles have been in fatal crashes, alternative companies haven’t been so lucky. Driverless cars have resulted in new problems for many cities, rather than fixing public transport problems.

It can be more challenging for a self-driven car based purely on perception – not only this, but faults can occur with technology that wouldn’t be as likely with the human brain. Research into the technology finds that the perception aspect of the self-driving vehicle is a camera, while the human driven car has both eyes and ears. Alongside that, it’s easier to control a vehicle with your hands and feet, whereas a self-driven car would be based on nothing but controls.

Curbed notes one of the major perks of self-driving cars as not being able to break the rules of the road. The car is already programmed to not speed, nor will there be any distractions from phones. As a result, there are less likely to be any hazards on the road because the car will be driving incredibly well already.

Similarly, with a maps system built into the car, it’ll be able to follow routes without any problems. However, that can be an issue if there are new roads which aren’t implemented into the GPS system, or if there are roadworks. With a human-driven car, they’re able to make adjustments to the route from memory and take a different journey if needs be.

There are pros and cons to self-driving vehicles, and although they can cause problems, they’re often proving to be useful to the public. Not only is it decreasing driving faults, but it’s also ensuring there is maximum safety on the road. While it could come with issues, because it sticks to the rules of the road, it’s likely to be a beneficial investment if you’re hiring a car in a country with different road laws. However, if you’re looking at a self-driving car in a country you already know, it may be worth starting with a partially-self-driven car.

Long gone are the days when automobiles with basic features were loved by everyone. The automotive sector has witnessed a drastic evolution post-2016 with various advancements in technology. New features like IoT, cloud computing and others have transformed the traditional cars into connected vehicles.

For instance, the big data analytics platforms are now used by various manufacturers to optimize parts and designs of vehicles. This has given the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) a quality advantage in the market. The technologies will also help in enhancing the end-user experience while making a significant change in the supply chain process.

So, without wasting your time, we provide you with 5 trends that will take the automotive industry by storm.

  • Connected Vehicles

In recent years, a lot of new technologies have been making their way into the automotive industry. Amongst these technologies, connected vehicles will be one of the most important ones.

These vehicles will possess the ability to share information about the driving conditions, like weather, traffic and more. It will just be the first step towards the V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) communication technology. This is the main reason why vehicle transmissions, car sensors, and wireless communications have become the leading topics of discussions in the automotive sector.

  • Blockchain

With the improvements in features, the automotive sector has also been facing an increasing number of challenges like fake part sellers and service providers. To tackle these challenges, leading companies are looking forward to ‘Blockchain’ as a potential solution.

The eradication of fake part supply from the market will enhance transparency in the operations. This, in result, will improve the pricing strategies. The blockchain technology will help in creating a trusted protocol for the rising supply chain management problems.

  • Autonomous Driving

Be it Tesla, Hyundai or BMW; every leading automobile manufacturer has been trying to implement this technology successfully. While autonomous driving will not be prevalent on streets for some time, it is being experimented throughout the world.

However, once this technology is completely adapted, it will help in minimizing accidents that are caused due to the carelessness of the drivers. It will also allow passengers to take care of other essential work while driving.

  • 3D Printing

3D printing technology has been slowly making its way in every aspect of designing, and the automobile industry is no different. Nowadays, vehicles are being designed to endure a higher number of crashes and have higher life-span.

The technology can help in manufacturing vehicles on solid chassis so that even if the vehicle meets an accident, its interior body does not get damaged. It will help in developing cost-effective and sustainable vehicles.

  • Usage Based Insurance for Vehicles

The Internet of Things or IoT will be influencing all the major operational activities in various industries. The insurance sector, for instance, is also experiencing a significant change due to this technology. The IoT platform will help the insurers in connecting with their customers better. Similarly, it will allow buyers to easily select the best car insurance policy that suits their needs.

The technology will allow insurers to sell usage-based insurance (UBI) to their buyers. The UBI will be able to factor various things such as vehicle type, distance covered, the behavioral pattern of the driver among others to calculate premium amount. It will encourage the drivers in safe driving which will, in turn, help insurers to reduce their claims payout. Thus, UBI will become the best car insurance policy type, for both insurers and policyholders.

‘Summing Up’

The automobile industry is presently growing exponentially beyond the traditional methods of manufacturing. With the above trends emerging at a speedy pace, there will likely be more exciting trends that will emerge in this sector. The future of automobiles is quite exciting, and these technologies will make sure of that.

Cars are not just a vehicle, but they are a family member. It’s the speed, comfort, and other features that make your journey fast and beautiful.

Which is your favorite car brand? Is it Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari or something else?

Lamborghini doesn’t need an introduction. Today, they are one of the most luxuries and expensive car manufacturing brand in the world. The Italian giants specialize in manufacturing three major types of vehicles. This includes Sportscar, SUVs as well as Tractors.

You can guess the exclusivity of the brand that most of the world only dreams of having it. It is available only to very rich and famous individuals.

“Lamborghini doesn’t advertise. because the people who can afford it are not sitting in front of the TV.”

Lamborghini has a massive fan following.  In a survey, it was asked that hypothetically, if they won a lottery, which car would they choose. Guess which was the top response? Yes, it was Lamborghini!

Lamborghini has had a very interesting journey so far. Of course, the trip to be one of the best luxury car manufacturers wasn’t always smooth, but it’s surely worth it.

We bring you 6 Lamborghini facts that will blow your mind –

6. Name

Names are considered very important as they give an identity. A brand either follows a certain theme for naming their models or each of them is unrelated. As for Lamborghini, the theme is Bulls. It is because the creator, Ferruccio Lamborghini was an avid lover of Spanish bullfighting. Therefore, he decided to name his cars after the names of famous bulls. The first car, Lamborghini Miura was named after a bull. There are many more models that are based on the names of famous fighting bulls.

5. No Engine

The first model of Lamborghini was launched at the Turin Auto Show. It was the first time the world had witnessed a Lambo sports car. This was the beginning of what is now the brand of exclusive luxury cars. But a strange fact is, the car wasn’t finished when presented. In fact, it had no engine at the time of its launch. The engine space was replaced by bricks.

4. Countach

The flagship of Lamborginhi, Countach was coined by the head designer of the house. When he saw the concept, he exclaimed “Countach” in excitement in the Piedmontese dialect. The rough translation is “Bloody hell!”. Yes, the flagship is based on a cuss word!

3. No Motor Racing

Being one of the fastest cars in the world, one would expect that Lamborginhi would appreciate heavily in the Motor racing. But No! Ferruccio Lamborghini didn’t approve of motor racing. He thought it is nothing more than a waste of resources and time. Therefore the company stayed away from motor racing for a long time. It was only in recent years when they established their own motor racing team and made their presence felt.

2. Aventador’s inspiration

One of their most popular models, Lamborginhi Aventador’s design was inspired by an insect. You don’t believe me? Read it yourself –

‘The design was inpsired by F22, B2, F35 and “those shiny green jagged-leg beetles that smell bad when you step on them.”
          – Said a one of their chief designers.

1. Face Off

Ferruccio Lamborghini owned a Ferrari 250GT. But the handling wasn’t smooth. After a look, Ferruccio realized that Ferrari was using a tractor clutch. He took his car directly to Enzo Ferrari and requested him for replacement. But Ferrari insulted him, mocked him saying what does a tractor maker know about a sports car.

Ferruccio wasn’t a man to forgive or forget. Within a span of 4 months, he created the first Lamborghini. Well, whatever the reason be, we sure are glad that Lamborginhi happened.

That concludes our list of 6 fascinating Lamborghini facts. Which one was your favorite?

Land Rover‘s mid-range model of the Range Rover family Velar has finally gained a top of the line variant with the introduction of the Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations division.

The biggest highlight of the new variant of the SUV is the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine under its hood that makes 542 hp and 680 Nm of torque. With the new engine, Velar is now capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and can go up to a top speed of 274 km/h. To keep up with the gained power and speed, Velar’s brakes and suspensions have also been modified.

Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition gets a lot of design changes too to stand out of the normal lineup. It gets a new front bumper with larges air intakes, a new grille, redesigned rear bumper with integrated quad exhausts. It rides on 21-inch forged wheels as standard, while 22-inch diamond-turned finished set is available as an option. Land Rover has also introduced exclusive Satin Byron Blue paintwork for the dynamic edition. Contrast Narvik Black roof will be standard across all body colours.

“The Range Rover Velar strikes a perfect balance between go-anywhere practicality, dynamic performance and relaxing comfort. By enhancing the luxury and dynamic characteristics even further we have created the pinnacle of the Velar range,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK.

The Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is developed by Land Rover’s SVO division. Michael van der Sande, Managing Director, Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, said: “Developing the Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition is the kind of task Special Vehicle Operations was made for. The challenge here was to increase performance without compromising the composure, capability and refinement inherent in Range Rover Velar.”

In the first article of Fleet Management, we had a brief introduction to the Fleet Management. We also understood why the GPS Vehicle tracker is the heart of Fleet Management and Why do we need it?

Functions of Fleet Management

Now, we will move forward with what are the functions of Fleet Management.

Functions of Fleet Management includes –

  • GPS Vehicle tracker
  • Mechanical diagnostics
  • Driver behavior
  • Fleet management software
  • Fleet security and control

The soul of the Fleet Management is the GPS Vehicle Tracker. Let’s brief ourselves with the function of GPS tracker.

1. GPS Vehicle Tracker

  • This is the primary function of Fleet Management. It does make sense, right? I mean, if the doctor can’t locate where the problem is, how can you expect him to find the solution. The GPS Vehicle Tracker System is the doctor here. It is usually based on the GPS service but sometimes it’s also based on the ‘GLONASS’. It stands for Global Navigation Satellite System. And yes, as the name suggests, it uses space-based satellite navigation system.

Functions of Fleet Management

  • Once the factors like location, speed, and directions are calculated by the GPS system, the Vehicle Tracking System sends them to the Fleet Management, who then based on their expertise take further decisions to further roll the process.

2. Mechanical Diagnostics

  • Data such as Fuel Consumption, mileage, and other real-time components are determined by the Mechanical Diagnostics.
  • This happens through the advanced Fleet Management system which allows the operator to connect to the vehicle’s onboard computer, and gather data for the user.

3. Driver behavior

  • We are aware that the road business is tough and rather harsh. It’s not easy to sail through these conditions. This is why we hear about the severe cases of accidents which leads to loss of not only fortune but also the lives.
  • In order to deal with this, the advanced system of Fleet management has vehicle telematics systems. They collect a full range of data in real-time and transport and fleet managers.

  • These data collection along with the combination of the history of the driver can be used to determine a profile which indicates his efficiency.
  • If the Management system finds that the behavior patterns are dangerous, the driver is sent into training facilities which help him overcome his problems.

4. Fleet Security and Control

  • The success of any business is determined by how much its users trust them. This trust is built over the security that they provide. We do know that Fleet service is a risky arena which includes stolen or rogue vehicles to stolen cargo. Therefore, it needs tight security which can help the owners prevent or at least minimize their losses.
  • The recent developments un the Fleet management allows them to ensure the security of the vehicle while stopped or not in operation and the ability to safely disable a vehicle while in operation.

And finally, the dessert for the end,

5. The Fleet Management Software

  • It’s one thing to be prepared but when things are happening in the field where even the slightest error of judgment can result in a big loss, we tend to look for ways to make sure that things don’t end up that way. As a wise man once said, ‘Prevention is better than cure’. Again, technology has made life easier and efficient.

  • In the same way, the Fleet management uses the FMS or Fleet management Software to have better and efficient control and execution of tasks. The FMS enables people to accomplish a series of specific tasks in the management of any or all aspects relating to a company’s fleet of vehicles.

Using a proper FMS system can prosper the business in unlimited ways. But these are the most prominent reasons why one should definitely have it.
