Design-led D2C fashion brand MyDesignation has secured ₹40 crore in its Series A funding round, marking a significant milestone in its five-year journey. The round was led by RPSG Capital Ventures, with strong participation from existing backer Veltis Capital, which doubled its equity stake. Other existing investors, Multiply Ventures and Dominor Investments, also joined the round.

From Digital-First To Omnichannel Ambitions

Founded in 2020 by husband-wife duo Swaroop Krishnan and Gopika B Raj, MyDesignation has built a strong presence through a digital-first, community-led brand strategy. Operating independently of third-party marketplaces, the brand sells directly through its own website, allowing it to maintain full control over pricing, distribution, and customer experience.

While the brand started online, it has steadily expanded offline. It currently operates five Exclusive Brand Outlets across Bengaluru, Kochi, Trivandrum, and Calicut. With the new funding, MyDesignation plans to open eight more stores over the next year, targeting cities such as Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru as part of a structured retail expansion strategy.

This move signals the brand’s shift from being purely D2C to becoming a full-fledged omnichannel player.

A Growth Story Built On Loyalty

MyDesignation’s numbers reflect strong momentum. The company reports revenue growth of around 100% year-on-year since inception — a rare feat in the competitive fashion space. To date, it has served close to one million customers, with notably high monthly repeat rates.

Its disciplined operational model also stands out. Product return rates are maintained below 5%, reflecting consistent product quality and customer satisfaction — metrics that are especially significant in the apparel segment.

The team has grown to around 100 members and will now expand further, with plans to bring in senior leadership across finance, supply chain, merchandising, and marketing to support scalable growth.

Storytelling As Strategy

At the heart of MyDesignation’s identity is cultural storytelling. Unlike conventional fast fashion brands that chase trends and replicate popular styles, MyDesignation draws inspiration from traditional art forms, mythical characters, and references spanning South Indian heritage to global cultures.

Each collection is built around a defined creative concept. The brand follows a curated drop model — launching a limited number of thoughtfully designed pieces instead of flooding the market with hundreds of weekly styles. This approach allows it to maintain creative integrity while nurturing a strong emotional connection with its community.

Chief Creative Officer Gopika B Raj emphasised that originality is non-negotiable for the brand. Every design undergoes deep research and creative development to ensure it is distinctive and culturally rooted.

Premium Feel, Accessible Pricing

While creativity drives the brand, craftsmanship anchors it. MyDesignation positions itself as offering luxury-grade finishes at accessible price points. The focus on quality — from fabric selection to detailing — has helped the company differentiate itself in a crowded D2C fashion landscape.

By blending culturally inspired narratives with contemporary streetwear aesthetics, the brand has carved out a niche that resonates particularly well with younger consumers seeking identity-driven fashion.

Investors Back Creative Discipline

Commenting on the investment, Sambit Dash, Partner at RPSG Capital Ventures, highlighted the brand’s sharp design sensibility and authentic storytelling. He pointed to the founders’ rare mix of creativity and disciplined execution as key reasons behind the firm’s conviction.

For co-founder Swaroop Krishnan, the Series A marks more than just a funding milestone. It represents the company’s transition into a more structured and scalable growth phase. The capital infusion will enable MyDesignation to accelerate its omnichannel strategy while maintaining operational rigour.

The Road Ahead

With strong annual growth, a loyal customer base, and a clear creative philosophy, MyDesignation now stands at an inflection point. The upcoming store launches, category expansions, and leadership hires signal its ambition to evolve from a regional D2C success story into a nationally recognised fashion brand.

In an industry often driven by speed and imitation, MyDesignation’s bet on originality, cultural depth, and controlled expansion could prove to be its strongest differentiator.
