Bharti Airtel has taken a strict action against Vice President of Alliances Pallab Mitra for alleged violation of the code of conduct. Mitra was fired as per the email sent by the company to rest of the staff.
Airtel Chief Human Resource Officer B. Srikanth said in a communication to employees, “All employees are hereby advised that the company has terminated the services of Pallab Mitra, Vice-President and head-alliance, with immediate effect for violation of the company’s code of conduct. Please desist from dealing with this person, or in sharing any information whatsoever with him, verbally or in writing or through messaging.”
In a statement, an Airtel spokesperson said, “The company’s code of conduct is of paramount importance and it follows a policy of zero tolerance in the event of any violation of the same.”
According to the communication to Airtel employees, the incident of violation of code of conduct by Mitra came to light from a whistleblower after which it conducted a probe into the matter. “…investigation, thereafter, substantiated the allegations,” Srikanth said. Mitra has been associated with Airtel for over 8 years so such violation comes as a surprise to many.
Mitra has also worked with Tata Docomo and served as CEO for Ozone Networks. (Source- ET Image- LinkedIn)
