17th March 2016, India : Practo has two main products – Practo Search, which helps consumers find doctors, and Practo Ray, which is a cloud-based software to help doctors manage their patients. Both the products will initially be available in Portuguese and English in Sao Paulo, Brazil’s most populous and renowned city.
Shashank ND, Founder and CEO, Practo conveyed in an emailed statement, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve millions of consumers in Brazil and simplify healthcare experience for doctors and consumers simultaneously.”
“There is no real new age cloud-based end-to-end software available to doctors in Brazil, Doctors end up using multiple software products to achieve what Practo Ray can solve single-handedly. So we see a huge opportunity there. We’re seeing great interest from doctors there already.” He further added.
Practo currently operates in 15 countries and over 50 cities around the world, and receives mammoth 10 million searches a month across its website and apps. Providing an update on its global expansion, Practo stated over a million people or approximately 20 percent of the Singapore’s population have used its service. It currently has the largest doctor database in the Philippines.
The company, which is the best-funded healthcare startup in India, has so far raised about $128 million from investors such as Tencent, Sequoia Capital, Matrix Partners, Google Capital and Yuri Milner, the Russian billionaire and founder of DST Global among others.
Over 5,500 verified doctors, covering nearly half the clinics in Sao Paulo, are already on the app and website. Practo aims to reach Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities in the second half of the year.
