After many different speculation about the name of Mahindra’s new flagship SUV, company has officially revealed that the SUV will be called Mahindra Alturas G4. The SUV was first unveiled as Y400 concept and later it was expected that Mahindra will call it XUV700. However, the company has chosen a totally different name for its new flagship model.
The new Mahindra Alturas G4 is based on the latest generation of SsangYong Rexton and will be positioned above the XUV500. Mahindra will target the high end SUV segment with the new SUV. The company says, “the Alturas G4 will compete with players that operate in the Rs.30+ Lakhs (Ex-Showroom) price range.”
According to Mahindra, “The Alturas G4 offers luxury and exclusivity in its Bold & Imposing Design & Luxurious Interiors. Thrilling Performance & Off-road capability, Unmatched Safety and Best in Class features further enhance the Alturas G4 proposition.”
Though there is no official word on the engine of the Alturas G4, it is most likely that it will get the 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that will deliver 187hp and 420Nm of torque, with 2-wheel drive and all-wheel drive capabilities.
Speaking about the Alturas G4 Veejay Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, M&M Ltd. said, “The word Alturas means ‘height’ or ‘pinnacle’.
