Fitness band and solutions firm GOQii Monday said it has raised some funds from former Tata Group Chairman Ratan N Tata, however the company did not disclose the amount of money raised.

“With the recent developments and tie-ups on the platform, the investment from Tata is a testimony to us being a defining player of services in our category making long-term impact in people’s life,” said Vishal Gondal, CEO and Founder, GOQii, in a statement.

“We feel honored and it further boosts our confidence to accelerate the pace of our growth. We will ensure that GOQii reaches new heights in the healthcare space in India,” he added.

GOQii is a California-based fitness technology venture in Menlo Park that offers a wearable fitness band paired with remote personalized coaching. Vishal Gondal, the former CEO & Founder of Indiagames founded the company. After closing its beta Beta program in April 2014, the company became commercially available in India in August 2014.

According to a IDC report, GOQii is a market leader in India with 16.1% share in the April-June quarter of this year. Source- ET
