Everyone in the United States now has the ability to tag products in feed posts on Instagram. Previously, the feature was only available to creator and brand accounts, but it is now available to everyone in the United States who has a public account.

After selecting a photo or video and proceeding past the filtering and editing screens, touch “Tag people” on the “New Post” page to tag a product. “Add tag” should be selected. Select the “Products” option in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen after tagging the brand. Then you may look up the product, choose the one that meets your needs, and tap the photo to add the tag.

Users can purchase the item by tapping on the tag, which takes them to a product page. They can also purchase it on Instagram.

For the time being, you can only tag products in feed posts; Instagram is working on making this capability available for stories. Product tagging is only available on public accounts; private accounts are not supported.

The app has just received a lot of improvements. Music sharing, quiet messages, and votes for group conversations were among the new features added to messaging last month. On the mobile app, Instagram also added a chronological feed option, allowing users to opt-out of the algorithmically arranged feed. There’s also a third feed option, which shows postings from favorite accounts in chronological order, but the algorithmic feed is still the default.

Only Instagram creators could tag products from businesses in their posts before the rollout. All Instagram users in the United States will now be able to tag products from businesses that have set up Instagram Shopping. According to the company, the expansion would make it easier for individuals to discover things from people they follow on the site, as well as for businesses to build their audience.

When someone tags one of their products on Instagram, the business owner will be notified. They may also see all of their profile’s labeled content in one spot. By regulating their product tag options in their settings, brands may also manage who tags their products.

On Instagram, 1.6 million consumers tag at least one brand each week, according to the company. Over the last few years, the company has been pushing to improve users’ purchasing experiences on its app.

Last year, the firm added a new tool to assist connect online shoppers to product drops inside the app, which can be found at the top of the Shop page, where users can discover, explore, and shop all of the most recent product launches as well as watch upcoming releases. Shoppers may also sign up to receive notifications about things they’re interested in, as well as browse products and collections from other Instagram drops.

Instagram’s revamped Shop tab debuted in 2020. Instagram Shop is a location where you can shop for things from your favorite companies and creators. You may filter by categories such as beauty and home on the Shop tab, and then check out directly in the app.
