The images were shared on Weibo by a blogger, not revealing many design elements of the vehicle. The overall shape of the car can be made out. The images also hint at two separate models of the car. However, the silhouette remains that of a sedan. The Weibo blogger also claimed that there was a LiDAR sensor on the roof of the vehicle, which suggests the vehicle may be equipped with driver assistance or autonomous technology. The company has not yet revealed any details about the car, but according to the blogger.

Many Xiaomi Fans are curious about Xiaomi EV and our thoughts on it. In fact, before we entered the EV market, we conducted thorough research and gained deep insights into the EV industry. Now I'd like to share some of my visions from back then.

Xiaomi is tight-lipped about the development of the electric car but the company’s first EV is expected to be introduced late this year or in 2024.  Initially, the Chinese designer and manufacturer of consumer electronics and related software were using BYD Han cars as test vehicles to evaluate their autonomous driving software. As per Chinese reports, the Modena is also slated to be offered in three variants, among which entry-level models will use BYD’s LFP “blade” batteries. But top-spec models will be equipped with the latest CATL Qilin battery pack.

Tech brands have increasingly made headway in the EV segment. Some of the big names that are still working on their EVs include Apple, Sony, Oppo, and more. Apple was expected to introduce its electric car in 2025. However, the launch may get delayed to 2026. Apple might still unveil the design in the year 2025. Sony has already set up its mobility brand and has also showcased two EV concepts under the new brand. The company is working on an electric sedan and an SUV. As for its pricing, Xiaomi is expected to slot the Modena as a relatively affordable electric vehicle in the Chinese market. Media reports have suggested that the car will likely be priced between $38,350 to $51,650.
