Other than disabling the enhanced intelligent services, the update also amends the definition, and it doesn’t says it collects call logs and SMS messages anymore.

Following are the details concerning the chain of events that pushed the company to disable enhanced intelligent services on its smartphones:

The new software update roll out for the Realme 11 Pro series disables “Enhanced Intelligent Services” on Realme UI 4.0 by default. The intelligent service garnered a lot of controversy since users noticed that enabling the option gives Realme access to access critical data such as “device information, app usage statistics, location information, calendar events, and statistics about unread SMS messages and missed calls” to better user experience. Later, the company made it clear that it does not “connect” any data on SMS, phone calls, and schedules, irrespective to the “Enhanced Intelligent Services” description. The new Realme UI 4.0 update also amends the details of the service.

The Realme 11 Pro and Realme 11 Pro Plus are receiving firmware versions RMX3771_13.1.0.524 (EX01) and RMX3741_13.1.0.524 (EX01), respectively, with the update. Users can also check availability by heading to Settings > Software Update or System Updates. To check if the Enhanced Intelligent Services option is enabled by default, head to Settings > Additional Settings > System Services > Enhanced Intelligent Services.

As mentioned, once users update the phone to the latest Realme UI 4 (based on Android 13), the options get disabled. Its new description reads:

“‘Enhance Intelligence Service’ is an underlying service that supports device functions and improves your user experience based on how you use your device. To provide the Optimised charging feature, ‘Ehance Intelligence Service’ needs to process your location information and your usage statistic locally on your device as well as obtain the Location permission.”

The mentioned update also erases the Enhanced Intelligent Services which is “set off” by default, and users can make a decision if they want to enable it. The update also includes optimisation of system stability and power consumption of the camera app. Consequently, other Realme smartphones will follow the same practice once the new Realme UI 4 update comes on their device.

Realme’s decision to erase the feature by default could also due to the government’s intervention. As soon as a user pointed out Enhanced Intelligent Services on Twitter, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekar notified the Union Minister of Electronics and Technology would have this checked.

Realme reciprocated to the accusation of saving personal data by saying the data processed under Enhanced Intelligent Services are encrypted and saved in encrypted hardware inside the user’s device. Furthermore, the company said that data is not leaked anywhere else or uploaded to the cloud. The company said, “We place great emphasis on user privacy protection, the enhanced intelligent services feature can be manually turned on or off basis the needs of the consumers.”

The Realme 11 Pro+ has a large 6.70-inch touchscreen display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. The phone has a powerful octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor and comes with 12GB of RAM, maintaining smooth performance and multitasking capabilities.

It runs on Android 13, the phone has with a substantial 5000mAh battery that enables fast charging.

Talking about photography, the Realme 11 Pro+ offers an impressive triple camera setup on the back. It includes a high-resolution 200-megapixel primary camera, accompanied by an 8-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel camera. The front camera features a single 32-megapixel camera for clicking stunning selfies.
