Want to pause your location on Snapchat and go a little private? Read on to know how you can get this done in a few steps. It is done to ensure your privacy and share your location only when you want to. Let’s get started then.
What does it mean to pause location on Snap?
Pausing your location basically means that you’re vanishing off the map that other people can open and view. When you “pause location” on Snap, usually by turning on Ghost Mode in Snap Map settings, then it basically stops sharing your real-time location with your friends. As a result of that, your Bitmoji will disappear from the map, or it will just end up showing your last active location before you turned it on. This is only when you pause it or for however long you choose to pause it. It’s a privacy feature that lets you take a break from sharing exactly where you are without removing or blocking your friends entirely. There is no specific limit as to how long you can keep it switched off.
Will someone know I’ve paused my location on Snapchat?
Well, yes and no. Snapchat won’t be sending an official notification to your friends that you’ve activated Ghost Mode or have paused your location. However, they may notice a difference on the Snap Map if they open it frequently, or just happen to open it just then. Your Bitmoji will simply disappear from their map, or it will show the last location you were at before you turned on the setting. If people open their Snap Map very frequently, then yes, they will know that you’ve turned your location off and gone incognito.
Steps to pause the location on the Map
If you want to pause the location on the map, then these are the steps that you will be following.
- To begin, you’ll have to open the Snapchat app and swipe down from the Camera screen. You can even choose to click the Map pin icon at the bottom of the screen to open the Snap Map.
- Once you have managed to enter the Map, you need to look for the Settings gear icon, which is usually located in the top right corner, and tap it. Doing this, you will be opening up the settings for the map.
- You need to look for an option at the top, which is called the “Ghost Mode.” To trigger it, just toggle the switch to turn Ghost Mode ON.
- Now a pop-up will appear, asking you to choose how long you want to stay hidden. You can choose either 3 Hours, 24 Hours, or even Until Turned Off. The last option gives you the liberty to keep it turned off for as long as you want. Once you have done that, save the settings and exit. You’ll have paused your location by the time you exit the settings.
