Do you want to turn off the Autoplay feature on Netflix? Follow the steps inside the guide to know how you can turn it off and switch to manually moving between episodes and more. Let’s get started.
What is Autoplay on Netflix?
Autoplay on Netflix is a feature that is designed to keep your binge-watch going without you having to manually move or change episodes and movies. It basically works in two ways that you can understand. It automatically starts the next episode of a series after a short countdown, and it plays trailers or previews as you’re scrolling through the home screen to help you get the snippets of it. While it’s convenient if you’re settled in for a long session, it can also be annoying or troublesome for some people who would either like to do it manually or want to read the descriptions in peace without the episodes simply moving on their own. Netflix lets you toggle both of these options on or off in your profile settings, so you can control how you want to watch your favorite shows and movies and how you want to move through them.
Steps to turn off Autoplay on Netflix
If you are annoyed by the Autoplay feature on Netflix, then these are the steps that you can follow.
Open Netflix in a web browser or use the mobile app on your phone to start.
Manage Profiles
Click on your profile icon, which is usually in the top-right corner on the web or under “My Netflix” on mobile, and select Manage Profiles. This will open further options for you.
Select Your Profile
Click the edit icon on the specific profile you want to change. This will ensure you are on the right profile.
Adjust Autoplay Controls
Now, scroll down to the bottom to find the “Autoplay controls” section. You will see two checkboxes appear on the screen.
- Autoplay next episode in a series on all devices – Uncheck this to stop the automatic countdown to the next episode.
- Autoplay previews while browsing on all devices – Uncheck this to stop trailers from playing while you browse.
Save Your Changes
Once you have changed the settings as you wanted, save the progress. On the mobile app, the toggle usually saves automatically, but you might also need to tap Done.
Refresh
If you see that the changes haven’t reflected on your application or website, try refreshing. That should do it.
And that is simply how you can turn off autoplay on Netflix and move between episodes and movies at your own pace.
