The X-Ray Sprite is a Legendary-rarity Sprite introduced with the v42.10 update. It was created by community member Avila215 as one of the winners of Fortnite’s Design-A-Sprite contest.
Its main ability is straightforward: the X-Ray Sprite periodically marks enemies in an area around you. The Sprite becomes more useful as you level it up. Higher levels increase how often enemies are marked and expand the area covered by the effect.
How to Get the X-Ray Sprite
The most reliable way to get the X-Ray Sprite is through Cheat Codes found around the Fortnite island. These are special in-match locations where you enter directional inputs to spawn Sprites. Because X-Ray is Legendary, you should focus on higher-rarity Cheat Codes, especially Gold ones, which favor Legendary Sprites.
To get one, follow these steps:
- Enter a Battle Royale match in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4.
- Search named locations and landmarks for Cheat Codes.
- Look for higher-rarity codes, with Gold codes being the best choice for a Legendary Sprite.
- Enter the directional sequence shown by the Cheat Code.

What Does the X-Ray Sprite Do?
The X-Ray Sprite periodically marks nearby enemies, giving you temporary information about their positions. This makes it especially useful for aggressive players who want to locate fights before entering them.
Its power improves with each level. The marks become more frequent, while the detection area becomes larger. This means a highly leveled X-Ray Sprite can provide much more consistent information than a newly collected one.
However, the ability is periodic rather than constant. You cannot rely on it to reveal an enemy every second, so normal awareness and game sense still matter.
