Range Rover Teases All-Electric GT SUV Ahead of Global Debut

TwitterWhatsappLinkedin

Range Rover has offered the first official glimpse of its upcoming Range Rover GT, introducing what it describes as a completely new kind of grand touring SUV. Scheduled for a full reveal later this year, the GT will mark an important milestone for the luxury marque as its first-ever fully electric model and the first Range Rover to be underpinned by Jaguar Land Rover’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA).

The new model is expected to broaden the Range Rover lineup while staying true to the brand’s signature blend of luxury, refinement, and all-terrain capability.

A cleaner, more minimalist cabin

The teaser images reveal an interior that embraces simplicity without compromising on technology. Instead of filling the dashboard with multiple screens and physical controls, Range Rover has opted for a restrained layout centered around a single infotainment display.

Ahead of the driver sits a compact digital display that replaces the traditional instrument cluster, delivering essential driving information while maintaining an uncluttered appearance.

One of the standout design elements is a concealed air vent stretching across the entire width of the dashboard. Speakers are integrated into woven textile trim panels rather than being visibly mounted, creating a cleaner aesthetic while contributing to a quieter cabin environment.

According to the company, the overall objective is to reduce both visual and acoustic distractions. By simplifying the dashboard and improving cabin acoustics, occupants can enjoy a more relaxing experience while still having quick access to the vehicle’s digital functions.

First electric Range Rover on the EMA platform

The GT represents more than just another addition to the Range Rover family. It introduces Jaguar Land Rover’s all-new Electrified Modular Architecture, a platform specifically developed to support advanced electric vehicles.

From launch, the Range Rover GT will be offered exclusively as a battery-electric SUV. However, the company has confirmed that hybrid versions are planned during the model’s lifecycle, giving customers additional powertrain choices in the years ahead.

The EMA platform is expected to play a significant role across future Jaguar Land Rover products, offering improved efficiency, advanced software capabilities, and greater flexibility for electrified powertrains.

Built alongside existing models

Production of the Range Rover GT will take place at Jaguar Land Rover’s Halewood manufacturing facility in the United Kingdom. Interestingly, the plant will assemble the electric GT alongside hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles, reflecting the company’s multi-powertrain production strategy.

This flexible manufacturing approach allows Jaguar Land Rover to respond to changing customer demand while continuing its transition toward electrification.

The Halewood facility has undergone significant upgrades in recent years to prepare for the production of next-generation electric vehicles, making it one of the company’s key manufacturing hubs.

Designed for long journeys and everyday luxury

Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover, describes the GT as the most car-like vehicle the brand has ever created.

While traditional Range Rover models have always prioritized luxury and off-road performance, the GT places additional emphasis on grand touring comfort. The SUV is designed to deliver a smoother on-road driving experience without sacrificing the capability that has become synonymous with the Range Rover name.

The company says the GT combines confident off-road performance with the comfort and refinement expected from a premium long-distance tourer, targeting buyers who want both versatility and everyday usability in an electric luxury SUV.

Camouflaged prototypes already on the road

Although the official design remains under wraps, prototype vehicles have already begun testing on public roads wearing a distinctive camouflage pattern. The wrap draws inspiration from the countryside around Gaydon, England, home to Jaguar Land Rover’s engineering and design teams.

The camouflage offers subtle hints about the SUV’s proportions while concealing many of its final styling details ahead of the official unveiling.

As development progresses, more technical specifications, including battery capacity, driving range, charging performance, and performance figures, are expected to be revealed later this year.

A significant step in Range Rover’s electric journey

The upcoming GT signals a new chapter for Range Rover as the luxury brand accelerates its electrification strategy. Rather than simply converting an existing model into an EV, the company appears to be developing a dedicated grand touring SUV that blends modern technology, minimalist design, and long-distance comfort with the capability buyers expect from the Range Rover badge.

With its debut approaching, the Range Rover GT is shaping up to become one of the brand’s most significant launches in recent years, offering a glimpse into the future direction of luxury electric SUVs.
