Panthalus is one of the unusual late-game encounters in Palworld. Once you enter the battle, the biggest challenge is not dealing damage. The arena is mostly water, movement is limited, and Panthalus can punish poorly prepared teams.

How To Unlock The Panthalus Fight
Before you can fight Panthalus, you need to begin the quest at the Deserted Islet. Speak with the Ancient Civilization Researcher there to start the process. The quest asks you to recover four special bones from different regions of the Palpagos Islands.
The required items are:
- Marine Echobone: Windswept Hills, around coordinates 124, -524
- Silent Echobone: near Verdant Brook, around 356, -111
- Seafoam Echobone: Mount Obsidian, around -515, -545
- Tidewind Echobone: Astral Mountains, around -265, 483
The bones can be found around glowing whale skeletons. Some locations have harsh temperatures, so bring suitable heat or cold resistance equipment before traveling. After collecting all four bones, return to the researcher. You will receive the Faded Schematic, which allows you to craft the Echoing Flute at a workbench. Using the flute unlocks the Panthalus encounter.
Prepare For A Water-Type Boss
Panthalus is a Water-type Pal, so Electric-type and Ice-type options are useful choices for your party. Electric Pals are especially valuable because Water is weak to Electric attacks. However, do not build your entire strategy around one Pal. A long boss fight can drain stamina, cooldowns, and health quickly.
Bring several strong, high-level Pals rather than relying on a single attacker. Your party should include ranged damage and Pals that can survive repeated attacks. Strong defensive equipment also matters because Panthalus has powerful attacks and the battle gives you little room for mistakes.
Your own weapons are important too. Carry your strongest ranged weapon and plenty of ammunition. A powerful firearm or late-game weapon lets you keep damaging Panthalus while your Pals recover or reposition.
Use The Arena To Your Advantage
The Panthalus battle takes place largely over the ocean, with only a small island providing solid ground. This changes how you normally approach a Palworld boss. Ground-based movement is unreliable, while flying Pals give you much better control over positioning.
Flying mounts and airborne Pals are therefore useful. They allow you to stay mobile, avoid attacks, and maintain a better angle for ranged attacks. Try not to remain directly underneath Panthalus for long periods. Watch its attack animations, move away when necessary, and use the island as a temporary safe point when you need to recover.
Because the arena is so open, getting separated from your active Pal can also waste valuable time. Keep your movement controlled rather than constantly flying around without a plan.
Learn Panthalus Attacks
Panthalus has several Water-based attacks, including Bubble Rain, Creeping Bubbles, Aqua Blade, Tidal Charge, Maelstrom, and Grand Breach. These attacks can cover significant areas, making predictable movement dangerous.
Instead of attacking continuously, use a simple rhythm. Deal damage while Panthalus is committed to an attack, then reposition when it turns toward you or begins another large attack. If your Pal is taking heavy damage, recall it before it gets knocked out. Bringing it back later can be much more useful than losing it early.
Pay attention to the battlefield rather than only watching the boss’s health bar. The fight rewards players who recognize attack patterns and move early.
Beat The Ten-Minute Timer
The Panthalus encounter has a ten-minute time limit, so damage output matters. You do not want to spend most of the battle simply avoiding attacks. Use your strongest effective moves and rotate Pals when necessary to maintain pressure.
A balanced approach works best. Let your active Pal attack while you contribute damage with your weapon. When Panthalus focuses on your Pal, use the opening to fire from a safe position. When it targets you, move while your Pal continues attacking.
Do not waste time chasing the boss across the ocean. Stay close enough to keep dealing damage, but far enough away to react to its attacks.
