Where to Find the M4A1
The standard M4A1 is located in the Flor De Oro province, in the southeastern part of the map. The weapon is stored inside a locked weapons case at a Unidad-controlled location near a sawmill. Flor De Oro is a high-level region, so expect tougher enemies and stronger Unidad resistance than you may encounter in earlier provinces.
The exact area is surrounded by trees, which can make the weapon case slightly harder to spot from a distance. Before entering the camp, it is worth taking a few minutes to study the area.
How to Reach the Weapon Case
You do not need to complete a specific story mission to obtain the M4A1. Simply travel to the weapon case and interact with it once you have reached the location.
A careful approach is recommended:
- Use your drone to scan the camp and mark nearby Unidad soldiers.
- Identify snipers and enemies watching the roads or entrances.
- Approach from the forest or another area with natural cover.
- Use a suppressed weapon if you want to avoid raising the alarm.
- Open the locked weapons case and collect the M4A1.
A helicopter can make reaching Flor De Oro faster, but landing directly beside the camp can attract unwanted attention. A motorcycle or ground approach is often easier if you want to remain unnoticed.
What Makes the M4A1 Useful?
The M4A1 is designed as a versatile assault rifle rather than a weapon built around one particular playstyle. Its balanced statistics make it comfortable at short and medium ranges, while its large selection of modifications lets you tune it for different situations.
Depending on your setup, you can add optics, magazines, grips, muzzle attachments, and other upgrades. This makes the rifle suitable for players who like experimenting with their loadout instead of using a fixed configuration.

M4A1 Tactical Variant
There is another M4A1 variant worth knowing about. The M4A1 Tactical is obtained by defeating Carl Bookhart, the Buchon in the Montuyoc province. Unlike the standard rifle, this special version is restricted to semi-automatic fire and comes with a distinctive configuration, including a CompM4 optic, vertical foregrip, extended magazine, and removable suppressor.
If you specifically want the classic M4A1, however, you only need to visit Flor De Oro. There is no requirement to defeat Bookhart for the standard weapon.
