Mewtwo is one of the most difficult Pokémon to obtain in Cobbleverse, the Minecraft modpack built around Cobblemon. Unlike ordinary Pokémon, Mewtwo is tied to a cloning system rather than a normal wild encounter. To obtain it in survival, you need two important items: Ancient DNA and a Cloning Catalyst. Both are connected to Team Rocket progression, so getting Mewtwo requires more than searching through different biomes.

Once you have the required materials, you can use a Fossil Restoration Machine to create the legendary Pokémon.
Get Ancient DNA From Giovanni
Your first objective is defeating Giovanni. He is part of the Team Rocket storyline and is directly connected to Mewtwo’s creation.
After defeating Giovanni, you can obtain Ancient DNA. This item provides the genetic material required for the cloning process.
If you have already defeated Giovanni but cannot find the DNA, check your inventory and the reward associated with the battle. Ancient DNA now comes from Giovanni.
Get the Cloning Catalyst
The second required item is the Cloning Catalyst. You obtain it by progressing through Team Rocket’s facilities and defeating Administrator Athena.
Athena is associated with a Team Rocket building, and the catalyst comes from that part of the storyline. Finding the correct Team Rocket structure may take exploration.
You need both items:
- Ancient DNA from Giovanni
- Cloning Catalyst from Administrator Athena
Having only one is not enough to create Mewtwo.
Use the Fossil Restoration Machine
Once you have both items, find a Fossil Restoration Machine. Cobbleverse uses this machine for the Mewtwo cloning process. Some locations provide a machine as part of the world or Team Rocket content, while other situations may require you to locate one yourself.
Place the required components into the machine. The Ancient DNA and Cloning Catalyst work together to start the cloning process. You will also need genetic material to power it. Cobbleverse player reports indicate that materials such as Apricorns or Revives can be used as genetic material.
The interaction can be easy to miss. If an item is rejected, try interacting with the glass tank or analyzer interface.
Create and Catch Mewtwo
After the machine has the required components and enough genetic material, the cloning sequence begins. Mewtwo develops inside the machine instead of appearing as a wild Pokémon.
When the process is complete, interact with Mewtwo while holding a Poké Ball. This adds the newly created Mewtwo to your team or PC, depending on your available space and game setup.
The standard Mewtwo obtained through this process is level 1. This avoids relying on an extremely rare natural spawn.
Can Mewtwo Spawn Naturally?
Cobbleverse also contains a custom Team Rocket Radio encounter entry for Mewtwo. However, its bundled configuration lists the ordinary spawn weight as zero, meaning you should not treat Mewtwo like a Pokémon you can reliably find by wandering through a biome.
For survival, the cloning route is the important method today for most players. Searching randomly for Mewtwo is likely to waste time when progression is what unlocks the Pokémon.
Mewtwo Forms and Variants
Cobbleverse goes beyond standard Mewtwo. The modpack includes alternate forms, including Mega-X, Mega-Y, Shadow, and Armored variants. These versions may have separate progression requirements or items, so obtaining regular Mewtwo does not necessarily make every form immediately available.
For the standard Pokémon, the process is straightforward: defeat Giovanni, obtain Ancient DNA, defeat Administrator Athena for the Cloning Catalyst, and use both components in the Fossil Restoration Machine.
