The Sonic Power Sneakers have arrived in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, also known as Fortnite Override. Inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog, this new mobility item lets players move around the island at incredible speed while using signature moves such as Spin Dash and Spin Attack. Unlike cosmetic Kicks, these sneakers take up an inventory slot and have a real effect on gameplay.
Where to Find Sonic Power Sneakers
The standard Epic version can be found through normal looting, so you do not need to complete a quest or buy anything. Your main options are:
- Chests and Rare Chests
- Floor loot
- Llama Supply Drops
- Eliminated players who were carrying the item
Chests are generally the easiest method because they are available across the island. If you want to improve your odds, land at a location with several chest spawns and search quickly. Floor loot can also contain the sneakers, although it is less consistent.
The Llama Supply Drop Gizmo is another useful option. When you have one available, deploy it and search the resulting drop for the sneakers. This gives you a more direct way to look for the item instead of relying entirely on ordinary loot.
You can also get the sneakers from an eliminated opponent. However, players carrying a 1-Up Token can return to the match with their inventory after being eliminated, so you may not always receive the items they were carrying.
How to Get the Mythic Sonic Power Sneakers
If you want the stronger Mythic version, your best target is Dr. Eggman. The boss is associated with the Green Hill Zone area and can move around instead of remaining at one exact spot. Watch your minimap for the boss indicator when searching for him.
Defeating Dr. Eggman gives you access to high-tier loot, with the Mythic Sonic Power Sneakers among the possible rewards. The fight can be dangerous because Eggman has a large health pool and uses a vehicle that provides protection.
Before attacking, collect shields and a good weapon. Shotguns and SMGs are useful for dealing damage quickly. Aim for his exposed head when possible, keep moving during his attacks, and use high ground to make the fight safer.
The Mythic sneakers are especially valuable because they do not have the same durability limitation as the standard version.
How the Sonic Power Sneakers Work
Once the sneakers are in your inventory, equip them and use the Fire button to activate their movement ability. Your character turns into a blue spinning ball, allowing you to travel much faster.
The main abilities include:
- Spin Dash: Charge and launch forward while on the ground.
- Spin Attack: Use the movement ability while airborne to attack or bounce toward targets.
- Structure breaking: A charged launch can smash through certain structures.
You can cancel the movement by using the Aim Down Sights button or switching to another item, depending on the situation.
Epic vs Mythic Sonic Power Sneakers
The Epic version has limited durability, with a 100-point durability pool. Using the item gradually consumes that durability. Once it reaches zero, the sneakers disappear from your inventory.
The item also uses a stamina system for Spin Dash. After the available stamina is depleted, you have to wait through its cooldown before dashing again.
The Mythic version removes the durability problem, making it much more useful for repeated rotations throughout a match. Even so, the sneakers do not make you invulnerable. Other players can still damage you while you are moving.
Best Way to Get the Sneakers
For most players, searching chests and floor loot is the simplest approach. If you specifically want the Mythic version, focus on finding and defeating Dr. Eggman. Be prepared for other players to contest the area, especially early in the match.
