Annihilape is one of the most unusual evolutions in Pokémon GO. This powerful Fighting- and Ghost-type Pokémon has a special evolution requirement. If you already have Primeape, getting Annihilape is straightforward once you know what to do. The process rewards planning, especially if you are short on Mankey Candy and want the evolution as quickly as possible. The main challenge is defeating 30 Psychic-type or Ghost-type Pokémon while Primeape is your Buddy.
What You Need Before Evolving
Annihilape is the final evolution of the Mankey family. Your first step is to get a Mankey and evolve it into Primeape.
You will need:
- A Mankey
- 50 Mankey Candy to evolve Mankey into Primeape
- 100 Mankey Candy to evolve Primeape into Annihilape
- Primeape set as your Buddy Pokémon
- 30 defeated Psychic-type or Ghost-type Pokémon
Primeape can be obtained by evolving Mankey, and it can also appear through certain events or other available encounters. Catching Mankey and using Pinap Berries can help you build Candy faster.
Set Primeape as Your Buddy
Once you have Primeape, open its Pokémon page and select the option to make it your Buddy. This step is essential because the special evolution task only progresses while Primeape is your Buddy.
After setting Primeape as your Buddy, check its evolution section. You should see the 30 Psychic-type or Ghost-type defeat requirement.
You do not need to use Primeape to defeat them. Primeape only needs to be your Buddy while the qualifying Pokémon are defeated in battle.
Defeat 30 Psychic or Ghost Pokémon
Now comes the main part. You need to defeat 30 Pokémon that are either Psychic-type or Ghost-type.
These battles can help you complete the requirement:
- Team GO Rocket battles
- Trainer battles
- Battles against friends
- Gym battles
- Raid battles
- GO Battle League battles
- Training battles against Team Leaders
The Pokémon you defeat must have Psychic or Ghost typing, and repeated species are allowed.
One easy approach is battling a friend who can use a team containing several low-CP Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokémon. This lets you finish the requirement quickly without relying on random encounters.
A Faster Solo Method
If you do not have another player available, Team GO Rocket battles and Team Leader training can be useful alternatives. Some battle lineups contain Pokémon with the required typings.
You can also leave a battle after defeating the qualifying Pokémon rather than finishing every encounter. You only need the counter to increase.
Keep Primeape as your Buddy throughout the process. If you switch to another Buddy, defeats made while Primeape is not your Buddy will not count.
Use Your Candy and Evolve Primeape
After the counter reaches 30, the special evolution requirement is complete. You still need 100 Mankey Candy to evolve Primeape.
Open Primeape’s Pokémon page and check the Evolution section. Once the task and Candy requirements are satisfied, the option to evolve it into Annihilape should become available.
Select Evolve, confirm your choice, and Primeape will transform into Annihilape.
Can You Get Rage Fist?
Rage Fist is Annihilape’s signature Ghost-type Charged Attack in Pokémon GO, but having Rage Fist is not the basic requirement for evolving Primeape. Move availability can depend on special events.
If an event offers Rage Fist, check its evolution period before evolving. An Elite Charged TM may also be relevant when the move is available that way.
