The Hellfire Torch is a sought-after hidden reward in Diablo IV Season 15. This Mythic Unique Charm is tied to a secret journey through Tristram and a difficult fight against Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. Getting it takes several steps, but the process becomes easier once you know what to collect and where to use it.
Unlock Tristram First
Your first goal is to unlock access to Tristram. You need to find and read all 10 of Deckard Cain’s Journals scattered around Sanctuary. After reading them, return to Deckard Cain at the Imperial Library in Caldeum.
Completing this part of Deckard’s Journey opens a blue portal called Deckard’s Memory. Enter it to reach the recreated Tristram area. Reaching Tristram does not automatically unlock the Hellfire Torch encounter.
Once inside, look for the fountain in the center of town. You will use it to open the portal to Echo of Tristram.
Collect the Three Prime Evil Splinters
The next part requires three items:
- Splinter of Terror
- Splinter of Destruction
- Splinter of Hatred
These Splinters are obtained from the Hell versions of the Prime Evil Waking Nightmares. The encounters include The Labyrinth for Diablo, Worldstone Keep for Baal, and Durance of Hate for Mephisto.
These runs are designed for high-level characters and are not easy. The Splinter drops are also not guaranteed, so you may need to repeat the encounters. Some current reports indicate that the Splinters can appear from different Prime Evil encounters, so focus on collecting one of each type instead of assuming that every boss will always provide its matching item.
Be careful when using a Splinter. They can also be used for changing your active Prime Evil alignment. If you consume one that you needed for the recipe, you will have to farm another.
Craft Wirt’s Lucky Coin
After collecting all three different Splinters, take them to the Horadric Cube. Put the Splinter of Terror, Splinter of Destruction, and Splinter of Hatred into the Cube together.
The result is Wirt’s Lucky Coin. This item opens the secret boss encounter. Keep the Coin safe because each Coin gives you one attempt at Echo of Tristram.
Open Echo of Tristram
Return to Tristram and interact with the fountain in the middle of town while carrying Wirt’s Lucky Coin. The Coin is consumed when you activate the fountain, and a portal to Echo of Tristram opens.
Make sure you are playing on Torment difficulty before this encounter. The activity is intended as an endgame challenge, so entering with a weak build can make the fight much harder than necessary.
Defeat Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto
Inside Echo of Tristram, you will face the Echoes of Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto together. Unlike encounters where you can isolate bosses, this battle puts all three Prime Evils into the same fight.
Before entering, make sure your character has strong damage, defenses, resistances, and mobility to handle overlapping attacks. A coordinated group can also make the encounter easier to manage.
Defeating the Prime Evil Council gives you a chance to obtain the Hellfire Torch, along with other rewards.
What Does the Hellfire Torch Do?
The Hellfire Torch is a Mythic Unique Charm with several powerful bonuses. Its possible stats include:
- Increased All Stats
- Increased All Resistances
- Increased All Skills
- An additional Unique Charm slot
- A random Set Count bonus
Stats are randomized, so your first Torch may not have the rolls you want. This is why farming additional attempts can be worthwhile for players chasing a better version.
