Acura is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the announcement of the RSX, a new electric crossover that is set to rival other electric vehicles like the Chevrolet Blazer EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. The RSX marks an important milestone for the brand, as it will be the first model built entirely on Honda’s new EV platform. Set to arrive in 2026, the RSX promises to bring fresh innovation, style, and performance to Acura’s evolving lineup of electrified vehicles.

A Nod to History with a Modern Twist

The name RSX is one that carries historical significance for Acura. Previously, the RSX was a rebadged version of the Honda Integra, which was sold in the United States between 2002 and 2006. While the nameplate now carries a legacy of sporty compact sedans, the new RSX will serve as a modern, compact electric SUV with a unique design and cutting-edge technology. This vehicle is a departure from its predecessors, embodying Acura’s ambition to shape the future of mobility with electric vehicles.

Design Preview: A Sleek and Sporty Profile

A single, camouflaged prototype image of the RSX has been released, offering an initial glimpse into the design direction for the new crossover. The vehicle features a sloping, coupe-like roofline that gives it an athletic, sleek profile. The rear of the RSX is highlighted by a full-width light bar, which is becoming a popular feature on modern electric vehicles. Additionally, angular vents behind the front wheels and on the rear bumper indicate that the RSX will have an aggressive, performance-focused look. While the camouflage hides the finer details, it is clear that Acura is positioning the RSX as a stylish, dynamic SUV for the electric age.

Powered by Honda’s New EV Platform

The RSX will be the first vehicle to utilize Honda’s new electric vehicle platform, which was unveiled alongside the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV prototypes at the 2025 CES event. This new platform is designed to offer flexibility, allowing Honda to produce a range of vehicles from compact electric SUVs to sedans. Honda has remained tight-lipped on the full specifications of the RSX, but it is expected that the vehicle will offer impressive performance, range, and interior space. The RSX will also feature Honda’s ASIMO OS, a new operating system introduced at CES, which promises to enhance the user experience with cutting-edge digital interfaces. While details on ASIMO OS are still limited, its integration into the RSX suggests that Acura’s electric crossover will be packed with next-generation technology.

Production in Ohio: The Heart of Honda’s EV Strategy

Production of the RSX will begin later this year at the Honda EV Hub in Ohio, where Honda has been working diligently to convert its Marysville and East Liberty plants to build a range of hybrid, internal combustion, and electric vehicles. The RSX will be the first all-electric vehicle to roll off the production line at these facilities, marking an important step for Honda in its electrification journey. The RSX will be joined in Ohio by other models from Honda’s 0-series, cementing the state’s role in the brand’s push towards electrification.

What’s Next for the RSX?

Sales of the RSX are expected to begin in early 2026, though full details on the vehicle are expected to be released later this year. As Honda continues to ramp up its EV production and commitment to sustainable mobility, the RSX is poised to be a key player in Acura’s future lineup. With its bold design, advanced technology, and eco-friendly platform, the RSX looks to continue Acura’s legacy of performance and luxury, this time in the all-electric era.

In the coming months, expect more information about the RSX’s performance specs, interior features, and technological innovations, as Acura and Honda prepare to take the next step in the electrification of their vehicle offerings.
