The AI race is heating up, and a move by one of the leading companies, Anthropic, which is known for its popular AI tool Claude, is set to put it firmly at the top.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the new AI firm is planning to raise funds to a whopping value of $350 billion in a new round of financing. The sum is an impressive $10 billion.
This development is rather surprising, especially coming after the previous funding round by Anthropic just three months ago, in which the company raised $13 billion in a Series F round with a valuation of $183 billion.
Prior to that, the company managed to raise $3.5 billion in funding in the month of March with a valuation of $61.5 billion.
GIC and Coatue Management to Lead Strategic Funding Round for Anthropic
This next round will be led by two big players in the investment market, namely the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore, GIC, and the investment firm Coatue Management, which focuses on investments in the technological sector.
This deal may be completed in the next few weeks, but the final sum will keep varying with the negotiations that are currently in process.
This new capital infusion comes at a critical phase in Anthropic. The company has been making quite an impression in the developer community through Claude Code, which is a revolutionary tool that helps to automate coding tasks through Claude Opus 4.5.
This product will play a key role in impressing developers as it shows that Anthropic really means business in delivering valuable applications of AI.
Anthropic’s $15 Billion Infrastructure Play
In addition to this round, Anthropic has secured significant contributions from tech giants. The firm also holds a different agreement with a total investment worth $15 billion from NVIDIA and Microsoft.

This is comprised of a special “circular” part whereby Anthropic agrees to buy $30 billion of compute capacity from Microsoft Azure, which is powered by NVIDIA’s powerful chips.
This is a significant step taken by Anthropic to ensure that the company has the necessary computing infrastructure to develop sophisticated models of artificial intelligence. With the increasing levels of complexity of artificial intelligence systems, massive computing infrastructures are needed by firms competing at a professional level.
IPO on the Horizon
According to the Financial Times, Anthropic is pondering an IPO as early as 2026, which would be a major milestone event for this company.
It is rather ironic that OpenAI, which is currently Anthropic’s main rival, is also mulling an IPO during roughly the same period, and this may prove to be an intriguing development pertaining to the parallel evolution of industry’s top duos.
An IPO would mean that Anthropic would have further funding and liquidity; however, it would also mean that Anthropic would be under greater public and regulatory focus. Additionally, it would allow investors and the public to gain further insight into financial and business performance.
If this funding round goes through at the reported valuation, it will double Anthropic’s value in a matter of months. This reflects the overall trend in the AI space, where adoption in the business world is accelerating, and spending continues to increase.
However, Anthropic is not the only company that boasts such lucrative valuations. OpenAI, its chief competitor, is actually in talks with investors to secure funds with a valuation that could reach as high as $830 billion, more than twice the valuation that Anthropic is expected to reach.
Why Anthropic is Pivotal to the Next Phase of Artificial Intelligence?
Despite talk of an AI bubble, investors are ready to pour funds into AI startups and get hooked on AI and its ambit, with its applications in healthcare and finance, education, and entertainment, among many sectors.
For Anthropic, this investment round is much more than an infusion of capital into the company. It is an endorsement of its technological offerings, strategy, and vision for the future of AI. As the company plans for the public markets and develops more offerings such as the Claude Code, the next few months will be critical in deciding whether it will sustain the momentum and live up to the humongous expectations associated with its valuation of $350 billion.
There is no end in sight for the artificial intelligence revolution, and Anthropic is set to play a pivotal role in determining its future.
