Apple is reportedly preparing to expand its premium “Ultra” lineup with three ambitious products that could arrive between late 2026 and early 2027. According to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Macworld’s Filipe Esposito, the company is working on an “iPhone Ultra,” “AirPods Ultra,” and “MacBook Ultra.”
The three devices could represent some of Apple’s biggest hardware changes in years, particularly if the company moves forward with a foldable iPhone, camera-equipped AirPods and a touchscreen OLED MacBook.

iPhone Ultra could bring Apple’s first foldable iPhone
The most significant product in the reported lineup is the iPhone Ultra, which is expected to be Apple’s first foldable smartphone.
The device is reportedly being designed with a 7.7-inch internal display that folds shut, alongside a smaller 5.3-inch external screen. When opened, the larger display could provide a tablet-like experience while still allowing the phone to remain relatively compact when folded.
The reported design is also expected to include two rear cameras and a single front-facing camera. Rather than relying on Face ID, Apple could introduce a Touch ID-enabled power button for biometric authentication.
Pricing is likely to make the iPhone Ultra an extremely premium device. Reports suggest a possible US price between $1,999 and $2,499, putting it well above Apple’s current flagship iPhones.
If launched in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, the foldable could become Apple’s most expensive mainstream mobile device.
AirPods Ultra could give Siri a new set of “eyes”
Apple is also reportedly developing AirPods Ultra, which could take its wireless earbuds in a surprising new direction.
The earbuds are expected to build upon the technology found in the current AirPods Pro, but could include tiny infrared cameras. These cameras could allow the earbuds to understand aspects of the user’s surroundings and provide additional information to Siri.
One potential application is Apple’s Visual Intelligence system. Instead of relying entirely on an iPhone’s cameras, AirPods could potentially contribute visual information while the user interacts with Siri.
Privacy will naturally be a major concern. Reports suggest that a small LED indicator could illuminate when the cameras are active, providing users with a visible signal that the sensors are being used.
If Apple can make the technology practical without significantly increasing the size or reducing battery life of the earbuds, AirPods Ultra could become one of the company’s most unusual wearable products.
MacBook Ultra could finally bring a touchscreen to the Mac
The third product is arguably the most interesting for Mac users: a rumored MacBook Ultra featuring an OLED touchscreen.
Apple has historically avoided putting touchscreens on its MacBooks, even as Windows laptop manufacturers have increasingly adopted the technology. A touchscreen MacBook would therefore represent a major shift in Apple’s approach to laptop design.
The reported MacBook Ultra could use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, giving it substantial performance for demanding professional workloads.
The machine could also feature a Dynamic Island-style interface, potentially bringing some of Apple’s newer iPhone design language to macOS hardware.
Another major change could be its connectivity. Apple is reportedly considering an Apple-designed C2 modem, potentially allowing the MacBook to connect directly to cellular networks through 5G or LTE.

Apple is betting on the Ultra name
Apple’s reported strategy appears to be about more than simply launching faster versions of existing products. The Ultra name has increasingly become associated with Apple’s most advanced and expensive hardware.
