It’s been just less than a year since the release of Larian’s fantasy role-playing game with a D&D theme, Baldur’s Gate 3. Patch #7, available exclusively for PC, brings a fresh batch of upgrades and bug fixes from the Belgium-based studio to the game. Users of the Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will have to wait until October to take advantage of everything the new patch offers; Larian hasn’t specified when it will be released.
Some new evil ending cinematics that Larian hinted at back in August have now appeared to accompany the next patch. These cinematics give players who follow the blood-soaked path of the Dark Urge something unique to look forward to in return for their bad deeds throughout the game
Additional enhancements include adjustments to Honor Mode, new Legendary Actions, new ways to modify the game, and some split-screen mode changes that couch co-op gamers will undoubtedly enjoy. Additionally, Larian has assured that cross-play and photo mode will still be available for the game and that Patch #7 is not the final update it will receive.
“We’ve still got a few more patches up our sleeve for Baldur’s Gate 3, which will include both crossplay and photo mode, alongside other fixes and updates,” Larian said in a recent blog post announcing the new patch.
Split-Screen: A New Lease on Life
One of the standout features of Patch 7 is its overhaul of the split-screen co-op experience. Players who have been encountering issues with UI visibility, input lag, and camera glitches will be delighted to know that these problems have been addressed. The patch introduces a dynamic split-screen system, allowing the screen to seamlessly adjust based on the proximity of the two players’ characters. This ensures a more immersive and visually appealing co-op experience.
Modding Made Easier
For those who love to customize their Baldur’s Gate 3 experience, Patch 7 brings significant enhancements to the modding scene. The game now features an in-game mod manager, making it easier than ever to browse, install, and manage mods. Additionally, Larian has expanded the modding toolkit, providing creators with more tools and flexibility to develop their mods.
New Content and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Beyond the technical improvements, Patch 7 also introduces a range of new content and quality-of-life enhancements. Players can expect to find:
- Evil Endings: For those who have embraced the darker side of the Forgotten Realms, Patch 7 introduces new cinematic endings for truly villainous playthroughs.
- Improved Honor Mode: Honor Mode has been refined with additional Legendary Actions and other balance adjustments, making it a more challenging and rewarding experience.
- Custom Honor Mode: Players now have the option to create their own custom Honor Mode rules, tailoring the difficulty to their preferences.
- Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements: Numerous bugs have been squashed, and performance has been optimized to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.
A Patch to Remember
Patch 7 is a substantial update that demonstrates Larian’s ongoing commitment to Baldur’s Gate 3. With improved split-screen functionality, enhanced modding tools, and exciting new content, the patch is sure to keep players engaged and entertained for many hours to come. As Larian continues to support the game, fans can look forward to even more updates and improvements in the future.
