The global auto industry is heading to China as the Beijing Auto Show 2026 gets ready to open next week, and this year’s event looks bigger than ever.

Running from April 24 to May 3, Auto China 2026 is expected to draw massive attention from automakers, suppliers, media, and car enthusiasts from around the world. With thousands of vehicles, major debuts, and the latest EV technology on display, the show is shaping up to be one of the most important automotive events of the year.

A Show Built on Massive Scale

Organizers say the event will feature 1,451 vehicles in total. That includes 181 world premieres and 71 concept cars, giving visitors plenty to look forward to.

The exhibition will stretch across 380,000 square meters, making it one of the largest auto shows ever held.

To accommodate the scale, the event will use two venues:

  • China International Exhibition Center Shunyi New Venue
  • Capital International Exhibition Convention Center (CIECC)

That setup says a lot about how much the Beijing show has grown in global importance.

Big Global Brands Are Coming

Some of the world’s best-known carmakers are expected to use the show to reveal fresh models and new technology.

Among the major names attending are BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Ford, and Toyota.

Many of them are expected to focus heavily on electric models, hybrids, and connected technology designed specifically for Chinese customers.

Chinese Brands Could Steal the Show

While international brands remain a major attraction, local manufacturers are likely to dominate the spotlight.

Companies such as BYD, FAW, Geely, and Great Wall Motor are expected to showcase their newest products.

New-energy leaders like Nio, Xpeng, Li Auto, Xiaomi, Zeekr, Aito, and Leapmotor will also bring a strong lineup of EVs, smart vehicles, and range-extender models.

This is where the real momentum is right now. Chinese brands are moving fast, and the world is watching.

Technology Matters More Than Ever

The Beijing show is no longer just about cars. It is also becoming a major tech stage.

Companies from 21 countries and regions will attend, including Huawei, CATL, and Bosch.

Expect announcements around batteries, software, autonomous driving systems, and in-car digital experiences.

Tesla Missing Again

One name missing from the official list is Tesla. Its absence suggests the company may continue skipping major Chinese auto shows, even as competition in the market becomes tougher.

When Can People Visit?

April 24 and 25 will be reserved for media and industry press, with more than 200 press conferences planned.

The public can attend from April 28 to May 3, with opening hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day.

Why This Show Matters

The Beijing Auto Show 2026 is more than a car exhibition. It reflects where the global auto business is heading.

China is now central to EV growth, battery development, and automotive innovation. If you want to understand the future of cars, this is one of the most important places to look.
