2 March, 2016, USA: Blippar has secured a new Series D round of funding of US $54 million. The round was led by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the strategic investment fund of the Government of Malaysia, and includes follow-on investment from its existing investor base, stated company in its blog.
Currently, company has over 300 employees across 14 offices around the world. This investment will allow Blippar to further increase its engineering team and to expand its global reach with the addition of a large range of new content. It was launched back in 2012 with the mission of bringing augmented reality to everyday objects on behalf of brands, advertisers, and publishers.
Commenting on the raised funding, Ambarish Mitra, CEO, Blippar said, “2016 is poised to be the biggest year in Blippar’s history as we not only expand our breadth and depth as a business across our team, technology capabilities and product offerings, but also reach new heights with our vision to become a true visual discovery engine for the physical world.”
