In FY21, MTNL and BSNL achieved operational profitability as a result of these actions.

Additionally, BSNL intends to introduce 5G service in a few areas shortly. A ₹19,000 crore advance purchase order for 100,000 4G stations was announced by BSNL in 2023. For roughly ₹13,000 crore, the real purchase order for network equipment was made to Tata Consultancy Services and state-owned telecom equipment manufacturer ITI. The remaining funds will come from the extra ₹6,000 crore that has been sanctioned. BSNL has launched 65,000 4G stations thus far.
