Startup BYTES, based in Bengaluru, has made headlines after receiving an important non-dilutive grant from Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund. The ₹20 lakh funding comes from the WTFund’s second cohort for 2024 and aims to improve road safety through innovative technology. This announcement is significant for BYTES as it gets ready to start pilot programs with top two-wheeler OEMs to integrate its innovative safety systems into practical applications.

BYTES: Revolutionizing Two-Wheeler Safety

Prakhar Agrawal and Aayush Kumar founded BYTES in August 2024 with the goal of creating an AI-powered Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) specifically designed for two-wheelers. The startup’s modern technology greatly lowers the chance of accidents by using computer vision and artificial intelligence to deliver real-time alerts and partial control during crucial periods.

A startling number highlights the need for such innovations: two-wheelers are responsible for around 60% of the more than 50 million traffic accidents that happen worldwide each year. About 90% of these collisions are caused by human mistake, and the chance of death rises by 40% when there are insufficient safety features. BYTES wants to close this safety gap and build a future in which no two-wheeler accident causes an avoidable death.

Funding Impact and Future Plans:

The WTFund grant will play a key role in advancing BYTES’ objectives. The money will be used especially to start pilot projects that combine their AI safety system with those of the biggest two-wheeler manufacturers. It is expected that this partnership would improve the technology’s effectiveness in typical riding situations and perfect it for widespread deployment.

Co-founder and CEO of BYTES Prakhar Agrawal was delighted about the donation, saying it confirms their efforts to make riding safe. In order to change how passengers interact with their cars and make safety a top concern rather than an afterthought, he highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and vision-based intelligence.

Along with the WTFund award, BYTES has the support of a number of well-known institutions, such as the Wadhwani Foundation, NVIDIA’s Inception Program for companies, Microsoft for Startups, and IIMB’s NSRCEL, an incubator for companies. In addition to financial support, this varied network of contacts offers strategic alliances and mentorship, both of which are essential for expanding operations.

The Role of WTFund in Supporting Startups:

Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, established the WTFund with the goal of empowering businesses by providing them with mentorship and non-dilutive finance. The fund offers selected entrepreneurs grant funding of up to ₹20 lakh along with advice on business strategy and expansion. The goal of Kamath’s project is to support creative concepts that could have a major beneficial societal impact.

The fact that BYTES was chosen to join the WTFund’s cohort shows how widely acknowledged its creative strategy for tackling important road safety challenges is becoming. BYTES will have access to important resources as part of this program that will help quicken its growth trajectory.

Conclusion:

In the pursuit of increased safety in two-wheeler mobility, the money obtained by BYTES is a major advancement. Incorporating AI-powered systems into regular riding experiences has the potential to alter the two-wheeler industry’s perception of safety in addition to lowering accident rates.

Customers and industry stakeholders will be closely monitoring BYTES’s dedication to using technology for social benefit as it launches its pilot programs with top OEMs. Millions of two-wheeler riders worldwide may benefit from safer roads and a more secure riding experience thanks to the partnership between innovative businesses like BYTES and well-established manufacturers.

BYTES has positioned itself as the leader in transforming two-wheeler safety with innovative technologies. The firm is expected to make major progress in fulfilling its goal of preventing accidents and saving lives on the roads with the help of Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund and other prominent figures in the sector.
