Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Set for Final Lap as Orders Close in April 2026

Cadillac’s compact performance sedan is nearing the end of its run. After more than two decades of building credible sports sedans, the brand is preparing to say goodbye to the CT4 lineup, including the enthusiast-favorite CT4-V Blackwing. And if you’ve been considering one, time is running out.

According to reports, Cadillac will close order books for the entire CT4 range during the week of April 20, 2026. Production is expected to officially end on June 25, 2026, at General Motors’ Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant. Once those final orders are locked, buyers will be limited to whatever inventory remains on dealer lots.

For enthusiasts, this marks the end of one of the most engaging compact sports sedans still available.

A Short Timeline to the Finish Line

Cadillac Global Vice President John Roth had already confirmed in late 2025 that the CT4 would eventually be phased out, with June 2026 set as the target. Now, that timeline appears locked in.

This also means prospective buyers only have a narrow window to secure a factory-ordered model. After April, finding the exact specification, especially for the CT4-V Blackwing, may become increasingly difficult.

It’s a familiar story in today’s market. Sedans are steadily losing ground to SUVs and crossovers, even when they offer better driving dynamics and enthusiast appeal.

The Underrated Performance Star

While the larger CT5-V Blackwing often steals headlines with its supercharged V-8, the CT4-V Blackwing quietly built a loyal following among driving purists.

Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 producing 472 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. That’s serious performance in a compact sedan. More importantly, Cadillac offered something increasingly rare: a six-speed manual transmission.

That alone made the CT4-V Blackwing stand out in a segment that’s rapidly moving toward automatic-only setups.

Built on GM’s Alpha 2 platform, which also underpinned the Camaro, the CT4-V Blackwing delivered sharp handling, balanced dynamics, and a driver-focused experience. Many enthusiasts consider it one of the best driver’s cars currently available at any price point.

No Direct Replacement Planned

Unfortunately, Cadillac has confirmed there are no plans for a direct CT4 successor. Instead, the company will focus on replacing the larger CT5 sedan, expected to arrive sometime between 2027 and 2028.

That future model is also expected to spawn another Blackwing variant, possibly featuring a new small-block V-8 that has recently joined GM’s powertrain portfolio.

Still, for fans of compact, performance-focused sedans, the absence of a CT4 replacement is disappointing.

The End of an Era for Compact Performance Sedans

The discontinuation of the CT4 reflects broader market trends. Buyers continue to shift toward SUVs and crossovers, leaving traditional sedans struggling for survival.

But cars like the CT4-V Blackwing remind us why performance sedans still matter. They offer precision, balance, and driver engagement that crossovers simply can’t replicate.

As the final production date approaches, the CT4-V Blackwing may soon become a future classic. Limited production numbers, a manual gearbox, and strong performance credentials make it especially appealing to collectors and enthusiasts alike.

If you’ve been thinking about one, this might be the last chance to order one exactly how you want it.

And once it’s gone, there may not be anything quite like it again.
