Debashis Chatterjee has been named as the new CEO of the Bangalore based software services firm Mindtree by its new promoter, engineering giant L&T. Chatterjee was previously the president for the global delivery and digital system and technology at US and India based IT services firm Cognizant.
Chatterjee who has spent more than 21 years with the Cognizant which takes charge at Mindtree even as the company has seen a drop-in margins amid confusion over its founders promoter leaving the firm.
“Chatterjee’s diverse experience and strong client focused approach will take Mindtree to the next level of growth and create enormous value to all the stakeholders,” said Anilkumar Manibhai Naik, group chairman, L&T. Earlier last month, the Mumbai-based firm had appointed Naik as the non-executive chairman of Mindtree.
At the time of his tenure with the Cognizant, Chatterjee has held various leadership roles from running the baking and financial service practices, the single largest segment for most of the IT firms, to build and manage the several delivery operations centers.
