Ford sold 173.6% more Rangers and had a 49.8% rise in hybrid sales over the previous year. That is, until the new Dodge Charger chooses to make a big debut later this year when the Ford Mustang will remain the sole muscle vehicle available in North America. Sales of Mustangs have, as expected, gone off with no competition in sight, rising a staggering 54 percent last month over the same period last year. Your stats can significantly improve by being the final person remaining.
Ford Mustang: A Lone Star in the Muscle Car Market
Mustang increased its sales number from 2036 to 3164 between August 23 to August 24 in a year. The increase is up to 17.7% taking the total sales of the pony car to 33,817 over the period of a year. After the other muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro were discontinued, the Ford now is the sole branded muscle car in the market providing it a strong grip in the category. Ford has pretty little time to celebrate its success and work for more upgrades before Doge breaks its dream. Dodge is soon planning to relaunch its new two-door model but this time electric version by late 2024 and internal combustion engine variants by 2025.
The Mustang is only the car in the North American region where Ford offers their heavy trucks and SUVs as their automobile portfolio. Ford sold around 1,400,341 cars between January and August 2024, a massive whopping 4.3 percent increase. Out of the only 33,817 were cars that is 17.7% 598,962 were SUVs and 767,562 were trucks.
Ford’s Hybrid and EV Sales Surge in August 2024 as Demand for Electrified Vehicles Grows
Ford sold 16,394 hybrid vehicles in August 2024, a 49.8% increase over the same month the previous year. Similar results can be seen in the year-to-date data, where hybrid sales have increased by 49.3 percent to 125,462 units. Ford is benefiting from what appears to be a growing trend for hybrid vehicles.
August saw a 28.9 percent increase in the company’s EV sales to 8,944 units, while year-to-date sales are up 57.6 percent to 61,366 units. This growth is mostly attributable to the rising demand for the F-150 Lightning (+86.5%) and the Mustang Mach-E crossover (+39.8%).
The gas-powered vehicles remain the most popular on the road, with 157,647 sales in August (+9.9%) and 1,213,513 year-to-date, down just 0.5 percent, despite these notable improvements for Ford’s electrified portfolio. The Explorer, which witnessed a 97.1 percent increase, and the Ranger, which soared by 173.6 percent, were the biggest winners last month.
