Reports suggest that Anurag even flew relatives from his village to Dubai at his own expense, further underlining his newfound affluence. High-end vehicles such as a BMW and a Land Rover Defender, allegedly owned by him, only added to public curiosity around his finances.
While the wedding amplified his celebrity status, it also appears to have triggered closer scrutiny of his income streams.
ED Conducts Marathon Raid
On Wednesday, a 16-member Enforcement Directorate team conducted a nearly 12-hour-long raid at Anurag Dwivedi’s residence. Officials examined property-related documents, bank account statements, and digital devices as part of their probe.
Although no official details regarding seizures have been disclosed, reports indicate that the ED is closely examining the crores of rupees Anurag allegedly earned through fantasy cricket platform Dream11. Investigators are reportedly looking into whether these earnings are linked to any illegal betting networks or financial irregularities.
This is not the first time Anurag has come under the ED’s scanner. The agency had reportedly taken action against him earlier in October as well, signalling that the investigation has been building for some time.
From Losses to a Lucrative Online Empire
Anurag’s transformation did not come overnight. Around 2017–18, he allegedly lost significant amounts of money while associating with cricket bookies. Following these setbacks, he moved to Delhi, where he discovered fantasy cricket platforms.
